After a nap, I was still beside L, both of us still naked, his hand tracing my arm.
"Natalie. Your name is Natalie." He hummed.
"You won't tell, will you, Lawliet?" I peeked up, and he kissed my forehead.
"Course not. But why Nietzsche?" He asked.
"I'm a philosophy major. I agree with his view on life. I agree with almost all his views." I hummed.
"Wow. A philosophy major. I never would've guessed." L said and I sat up, smirked, and teasingly pushed him.
"Here's a question. Why me?" I asked and he simply blinked. "Why do you want me?"
"Seems cliche, doesn't it?" L sighed, rolling his eyes. "Someone like me falling for someone like you?"
"Have you fallen for me?" I asked, and he sighed.
"I've never fallen for anyone, so I'm not sure what it feels like really. But I feel like I have with you." L said and I closed my eyes and let a pleased smile take over my face.
"That's good to hear," I said.
"I know you haven't fallen for me," L said, and I looked back at him.
"I haven't yet. I won't say I don't feel anything for you, because that's not true." I said and L scooted down to be face to face with me.
"That's all I can ask for." He sighed and kissed me, then pushed my hair back again. "I realized you were right, all that time ago. You and I are two sides of the same coin. And the two Kiras, and everyone else, they're a different type of currency."
I smiled at the memory. "I said that the day we met."
"Bet you didn't think it would end up being so true." L hummed.
"Yeah, I was half talking out of my ass." I shrugged with a grin.
"And as I said on that day, you do have a way with words." L said and let our fingers meet and link together. "Being with you like this, I like it, but it feels uncharacteristic of me."
"Ah, what do you care? If you're happy, you're happy." I said and he closed his eyes and relaxed, looking happy and peaceful.
"You used to give me headaches." He sighed.
"Yeah? Just you wait." I grinned. "You ain't seen nothing yet, Lawliet."
"Where are you from?" He asked, looking at me again. "You're obviously not Japanese."
"I'm American," I answered.
"Oh my God." He said, making me laugh. "That explains a lot."
"What? You're mean! Like what?" I frowned.
"Like your love of McDonald's." L smiled teasingly at me.
"You're stereotyping! I'm not fat!" I pouted.
"No, you're not fat, which is a wonder actually." L's arms wrapped around my waist, our bare skin meeting.
"Where are you from?" I asked.
"I spent the most time in England, so England." He hummed and I nodded.
"Do you have an accent?" I asked.
"No." Lawliet shook his head. "Watari says I sound American. I've lived in too many places to have a distinct accent. At least, when I speak English." He said the last bit in English.
"Ooh! I like your English voice." I smiled as I switched languages as well.
"Yours... I like yours, too." L blinked, then smiled softly. "Where are you from in America?"
"Down South." I hissed. "Scary place." I sighed, shaking my head.
"So what made you come to Japan?" He asked.
"The Kiras, of course." I rolled my eyes. "I suppose once I'm done here, I'll go somewhere else and start over again. Then I'll have the world under my control." I hummed, then peeked up at his face.
"Could you do me a favor and picture me laughing like an evil villain right there? Cos I'm too tired to do it." I said and he gave a smile and nodded.
"Your laugh sounds very villainous in my head."
"Thanks." I sighed with a smile, and settled into his chest, closing my eyes.
After a while, we both got up and was walking home again, Armonia beside me.
"I don't understand. Why are you sleeping with L? Shouldn't you be working on phase three?" He asked.
"L is phase three," I answered and he suddenly understood.

FanfictionI'd like to say our story started when I was handed the Death Note by the golden, bejeweled Death God, but that's not the true beginning of my story if I'm being honest. No, my story started years in advance, before this murder book found its way to...
