Day

I dream about her, again. This time I have her in my arms. Her heart, beating against mine. My hands, tangled in her soft, silky, hair. She says my name. "Day, I love you." But I'm not Day anymore. I'm Daniel. I wake up, and look around. She's not here, I tell myself. It was a dream. Just a dream. But why did it seem so real? Everything about the girl, her hair, her voice, the feel of her skin against mine. It all seemed so real. As if I've had some sort of connection to her. But that's impossible. Surely I would've remembered someone as beautiful as her. But then I remember my coma. The doctor had told me I'd forgotten many things that had happened 2 years before I fell into the coma. Maybe the girl was one of them. I shake these thoughts from my head and rise. Today is the day. Today is the day I go back to the Republic. Has it really been 10 years since I left? I go to Eden's room and knock. If he wants to get the engineering job in the Republic, he better not be late for his interview. Once he's awake and we've gotten ready, we board an Antarctic jet. This is the jet that will take us back. This is the jet that will take us back to our old home.
