• Chapter Twenty Three

"You see our set?"

I looked around for Kristin's help but she had left the tent. "No."

I felt silly being with Grey again. It felt too surreal. Too hard.

"You just left..." was all he could say in return.

I nodded, the words just weren't coming out.

"Our movie was good by the way, in the end we got like an A or something... Braces was pretty cut up when she found out you left."

Braces, it was good to hear that name again. A part of me really missed her.

"Yeah... She kept on saying about your TV programme never being made or something..."

I cringed away but remembered the day anyway; it wasn't a bad day considering what had happened. Braces and I had our first full proper conversation that hardly involved Grey Leonne.

I stopped Grey talking about Raine and Bindi to just hug him.

" I've missed you..." I muttered. The words dawning on me as I said them.

"I've... I've missed you too Eden."

"Now we've got that sorted, let's go and celebrate!" Kristin's chime interrupted our hug and with it her hands clasped on both of our hands and we sped off outside into the hot sunshine.

"I can't believe I'm holding Grey Leonne's hand!" She squealed next to me staring at Grey. "Gosh, you're much fitter than what Ede told me. I mean, she mostly went on about your body not your face."

With that very much too indulgent compliment, Grey insisted we went back to his tour Winnebago.

"Josh, Tad, Tanner! Oh my goodness you are not the band members of Biblical!"

They laughed and hugged the two of us leaving Grey looking confused until Kristin filled him with details.

We joked together that we thought we would never see each other again after yesterday.

Grey handed me a magazine while Kristin tried to fill the other boys in what band they should see next. There in front of me was Jesse looking gorgeous in his American football kit. I gawped at the sight of him. I was actually speechless. He had done so well for himself! Not to mention how much more gorgeous he was now.

"Wow," was all I could muster.

Grey handed me a beer, smiling at me like he used to and memories flooded back to the house parties together.

"I thought you might want to hear about the rest of your little gang... now you've seen Jesse's a huge star, you might like to know that Raine now lives somewhere far but my sources tell me she's not doing well in the modelling world. Bindi was completely a different person when you didn't come back to school, but she's now at college or um, as you say it, university. Eli is being Eli, he lives with Jesse in their bachelor pad but Eli makes little money and Jesse is always practicing..."

"I don't know if I want to hear this..."

"Why not..." Grey asked twiddling his purity ring around his finger. It was good to know he was still wearing that.

"Because it's a little too much, G."

"You left-"

"I had good reason to."
