• Chapter Twenty Nine

I turned up at the house feeling better. My cheesecake had made me feel so much more relaxed after the talk with Sarah.

Joseph came storming up to me when I hopped out of the cab. He didn't even wait until I finished paying the cab driver.

"How dare you! We give you a home, food and you repay us with shouting at Sarah."

My first thought was to back away from Joseph. Instead I rolled my eyes. Even I was shocked I had even reacted that way towards him. I had loved Joseph when I stayed here. Although I always thought he should be home with his children more.

"After everything we did for you Eden!"

We didn't notice Eli jogging over to us.

I stood up to my full height to Joseph fuming. "Whatever you say."

"We didn't know..."

"Cut the shit. Sarah admitted she knew." I was calmer than I thought I would be. I was telling Joseph as nicely as I could.

"I didn't! I would have done something!"

Eli broke us up. "Dad, step away."

"She shouted at your mother." He stared down his son.

"I didn't shout Joseph. I told her the facts." Rolling my eyes again.

"Eden... not the time." He stared at me, his grey diamond eyes pleading for me. I took a little step back. He gave me a small smile.

Jesse came over quickly putting an arm around me, leading me away. "You are so much trouble."

"Why haven't you noticed this before handsome?"

Jesse gave his lovely laugh.

"Jesse!" Eli called after us. We stopped walking for Eli to catch up. "Don't leave yet, camera's will be here in a minute."

We looked at Eli Moretto puzzled. He was wearing all black, that was all he seemed to wear, he never used to. Black coat, black jeans and black cap to hide his shaggy hair and that weird looking beard that was really growing on me.

We turned at the same time to see vans and camera crew get out. Apparently, as Eli explained, they were here to record the process of what happens when we go out to look for Bindi. They wanted a statement as well for Bindi in case anyone knew where she was. They loved the look of the three of us together.

Jesse Strachenburch, a British girl and the sexy shaggy looking brother.

"So what do you do when you go out to find your sister?" Eli gave the reporter, who liked the look of Eli, a recollection of what would happen.

"Has anyone had any luck?" Eli looked away from the reporter shaking his head.

"And how did someone like Jesse Strachenburch get involved with this search?" Jesse suddenly paid attention to the reporter, and gave her a brilliant speech on his teenage life with the Bindi, Eli and the Moretto family.

Then the reporter turned to me. She didn't seem to care but her voice showed all the emotion needed for the camera. "And you've come all this way to help search for the missing person?"

I nodded. I didn't really want to speak to her but she prodded the microphone into my face. So I told her I was once an exchange student that lived with the family and when I found out, I came to look for her.
