Chapter Two
"You're coming."
"I'd rather stay in thanks." I went to close the door on Jesse but he stopped it.
"Eden you really haven't got a choice." Jesse gave me an award winning smile. I hadn't exactly abandoned the others but I would go on the search and as soon as I was done I was leave. If the house was even mentioned I would leave. More than ever I felt like I needed to go. Bindi had to be found soon.
Jesse was still giving me that smile of his, three seconds contemplating if I should go or not I was already out of the door.
We met Leanne at the restaurant. She beamed at us approaching.
"Thank goodness you're here. Eli and that other girl with nice shoes are inside."
I shot Jesse a look.
"It was my way of apologising..." he shrugged.
"Apologising to who?" My voice getting a pitch higher. It certainly wasn't me!
"Jesse what have you done?" Leanne asked urgently.
"I invited them. Shall we go in?"
Leanne put an arm through mine before I could sprint the opposite way. "Don't worry I can spill drinks on her shoes"
I gave her a small but grateful smile. "Only if you promise its acid..."
The dinner was horrendous. It was the only word that would describe it. But the food was lovely.
I could see where Raines hands were heading. Everyone could see.
I wanted to be spiteful. I wanted to gloat to Eli about my previous relationships - however short - I had had back in England and squash Raine's facade that she was now a famous model.
I knew better.
Instead - for some unknown reason - I was polite. Instead I visioned spilling acid on Raine's shoes. Instead I kept quiet, zoning out of the conversation when Raine started to talk. Instead I ordered the biggest dessert on the menu and stuffed my face so I wouldn't have to talk.
Oh how I loved comfort food.
"Why did you bring me here?" I gritted my teeth to Leanne.
"Don't look at me, I was bought here too remember."
"Then why did your toy-boy bring us here?"
"Trust me, he'll pay..."
We watched Jesse trying to talk to Eli for a bit but Raine would interrupt with stupid questions.
"I need a drink. An alcoholic one." I whined under my breath to Leanne.
She wriggled out of her chair excusing herself. She came back two minutes later with a large cocktail in her hand. The whole table stopped talking to look at her, all very jealous.
"Bitch..." I muttered.
"You should see the cocktails back in Australia..." I rolled my eyes at Raine beginning to zone out. Leanne produced another cocktail from behind her back placing it in front of me. I savoured every sip forgetting everyone around me existed.
