Chapter Thirty Four
It took a week before we went to my hometown.
First things first we had to tell Sarah, Joseph and Eli. I wanted to hop on a plane as soon as possible but Jesse being Jesse, he had to make sure we told everyone where we were going. Good ol’ Jesse! I mimicked behind him as we walked up to the Moretto doors.
I had packed as soon as I had stopped drooling over Jesse the morning after we woke up in bed together. Jesse however, had training and the new NFL season was about to start soon or something, I never really listened to him as he got out of bed in only his boxers. Like I could concentrate on anything else… even if girls can multi task, with a half-naked hot guy in the room – it’s difficult.
Jesse started to tell the worried Moretto parents that their daughter was in England and that I would explain why. I snorted at the question.
Jesse gave me a look, giving a large sigh I started to explain. But I couldn’t. I couldn’t understand why there was this urge that was screaming at me to go back to London. I didn’t really know why I had this idea that she was in England but if she wasn’t in America and my heart wouldn’t give up on hope that she hadn’t been killed, I knew that was where she would be.
“She just is…” Joseph looked confused.
I shrugged, “yeah.”
“Eden I think you may have to explain a little more in detail.” Jesse crossed his arms and nodded towards Sarah and Joseph for me to give more information.
I shot him a look. I looked like a child having a tantrum shaking my head saying very plainly and clearly that it wasn’t my place to say. This was up to Bindi for when she returned.
“But she’s our daughter!” Joseph interrupted. A daughter who ran away I answered him back. “And that’s why we need to know, we need her back.”
I was going to get her in England, she’s coming back I stated. Jesse’s sensible face was agitated and frustrated at me.
“No… no you won’t. We’ll come with you.” Joseph started to get up from the sofa. Sarah looked pale.
Both Jesse and I said it was a bad idea. Why would she want to see the people she had run away from in the first place?
No one talked for a while.
“She is right.” Sarah whispered. She looked even more pale, shocked.
“I know I am.” I grumbled.
“Eden…” I put my middle finger up at Jesse. He huffed beside me.
Realising I needed the loo I unwillingly made my way upstairs to the bathroom while Jesse went over the arrangements.
I hate these stairs, I whispered. I say that every time I go up these stairs.
I looked down the dark corridor wishing that somehow it wasn’t so dark. That, for some reason I wanted the corridor looking onto my old room, Bindi’s and Eli’s to be lighter. I shook off the thought making my way into the bathroom.
It was too tempting not to; I slid my hand over Bindi’s then my old door knobs wanting to go inside. Instead, I twisted the door knob to Eli’s room. I looked around the room taking in his familiar smell. I wandered round, smiling a little at his clothes chucked around the room.
