"Sodapop Curtis, I'd be honored to be your girlfriend," I said with a big fat grin on my face.
He studied my face. His eyes ever so often flickering down to my lips. I felt my face go red and I suddenly felt self conscious. Sodapop leaned in and time froze. He brushed my arm with his calloused fingertips and connected his lips with mine. Our lips went in perfect sync as we gently kissed. Electricity, sparks, something I believed only happened in fairytales and cheesy romance movies, flew. Our connection was incredible. There was enough energy flying between us we could light the entire sky with it.
Just then the light over the door to enter the roof top area came on with a clank. The entire area was flooded with lights and I pulled away from Soda, looking at a man in uniform.
"What are you kids doing here!?" The man yelled, clearly angered. I glanced over at Sodapop and we made eye contact, he nodded and I smirked.
We hopped upped up to our feet and grabbed the picnic basket, thankfully I had packed up our dinner earlier, and dashed towards the exit.
We ran as fast as our feet could carry us until we were on the Curtis's porch. Sodapop and I were bent over in laughter, gulping for air as we tried to fill our lungs. I looked into his eyes again and we both leaned in for another kiss.
The front door opened and an amused looking Ponyboy and an angry looking Dally stood in the door frame. Sodapop and I pulled away, our kisses always seemed to be interrupted. I felt the heat rising to my cheeks as I looked at my shoes.
"Kathryn maybe you should sleep with Ponyboy tonight," Darry suggested. I nodded my head.
"Yea Sodapop can't keep his dick in his pants!" I heard Two-Bit yell from inside the house.
I blushed harder looking at Sodapop again and entered the house.

I tossed and turned in bed, trying desperately to fall asleep. I was so giddy from my night with Sodapop, he took all my attention away from everything.
"What's wrong Katy?" Ponyboy's soft voice rang out into the darkness of his room.
"Nothing, I just can't seem to fall asleep, Ponyboy. Am I keeping you awake?" I questioned.
Ponyboy turned to face me, "nah, I was just thinking."
"What about?" I said.
He sighed, he pondered over what he was going to say or how he was going to say it. Deep lines of worry creased Ponyboy's forehead as he furrowed his eyebrows. "You ain't gonna be like Sandy, right? You ain't gonna cheat on Sodapop or break his heart, are ya?" Tears filled his eyes, glossing them over.
"No, I would never do that to Sodapop! He's such a great guy, sweet, caring, fun, very handsome," I gushed, wiggling my eyebrows in a teasing manner, "why'd you think of that?"
Ponyboy let out a sigh of relief, "I don't know, Katy, I was just making sure. I- I don't want Sodapop getting hurt again," he explained.
I nodded my head thoughtfully. I would never, ever, ever, be like Sandy, she's a disgrace. She didn't deserve Sodapop. "Well I can't promise that I ain't gonna hurt him, Ponyboy, things happen ya know? People move on, they can change. People can die."
