After spending the whole day working I was finally off shift and got into my car to go home. Before I started up the car I decided to check my phone which I haven't been able to look at since my break hours ago. I scrolled through the notifications, most of which were tweets and snapchats, nothing exciting that couldn't wait until later.. That was until I noticed a text from an unknown number right at the bottom.
Unknown - What would you suggest as the best cure to a hangover? - Jack
I was happy to see Jack had finally messaged me, but I couldn't make out what he actually wanted from the message he sent. Did Jack want to start up an actual conversation with me of just get advice on how to deal with hangovers? And if that is the case he should know I'm the wrong person to be asking as I've told him I don't drink that often and rarely get hangovers. Also, did he not bother messaging me before because he went out and got drunk instead? I didn't know how I felt about that, but it wasn't a great impression of him. I almost didn't want to reply and just leave him hanging for a bit like he did with me last night, but then I realised he sent the message 4 hours ago so I gave in and replied, but decided not to be so nice.
Demi - I heard taking a shot of vinegar mixed with lemon juice and mustard does the trick.
I put my phone back into my pocket started driving home, whilst I was driving I felt my phone buzz in my pocket and as soon as I parked up I checked it straight away to see his reply, I hoped it would be his reaction to listening to my bitter 'advice' as it would make me feel a little better, even though honestly I don't know why it had gotten to me as I hardly even know the guy and my actual friends blank me for hours on end half the time.
Jack - Do you think it'll still work without mustard?
Demi - Hmm, I don't know maybe try it and let me know.
My mood lifted slightly as I started giggling to myself thinking Jack may actual do as I say and attempt this shot and if he did it would honestly be the greatest thing.
Jack - I think I'll pass actually. It already sounds horrible so I don't want to attempt trying it if I might not get any results from it. Plus the hangover should ware off soon enough now on it's own.
Demi - That's fair enough, if only I saw this text earlier I could of helped you when you really needed it.
Jack - I'll try it next time anyway. Sorry I didn't message you back last night I got roped into going out and just completely forgot.
Demi - Don't sweat it.
Jack - You aren't annoyed are you?
Demi - Of course not, I didn't really expect you to message me, we've only just met.
I lied, I thought he would message me as soon as I gave him my number with the vibes he was giving me and I hoped he would message me. I spent hours waiting for him to message me, but he didn't. He went out and got drunk instead.
Calm down, Demi. I told myself. You don't even know Jack, you can't expect anything from him and he's probably just a flirt, flirts with all the girls and doesn't really mean it, or just flirts without realising it. Ugh.
Jack - I know, but I do want to get to know you, I thought we were getting on quite well this weekend.
Demi - Really?
Jack - Really? Did you not think we got on?
Demi - No I did, you know after I got over the awkward bit, but I mean you want to get to know me?
Jack - Sure! How else do you make friends? Haha.
Friends.. Maybe that's all he wants. Maybe he just wants to befriend as many Youtubers as possible to help himself, although his following is a lot better than mine it's likely a lot of my fanbase don't know or watch him, so either way as a YouTuber you're still somewhat getting your name out to more people and gaining more viewers/subscribers with every collab you do.
Jack then messaged me again before I even thought about a reply.
Jack - God, Demi, do you always make it so hard for people you get to know you? *laughing face*
Demi - Sorry.. I just don't know what to think sometimes. I guess I tend to get very wary of people.
Jack - People that try to be friends without? I mean I just met you, thought you were pretty cool and want to continued you socialise with you? There's nothing you need to be wary of about that is there?
Demi - No, don't worry about what I said. I'm not thinking straight I'm completely exhausted after being at work all day.
With the conversation getting complicated I decided to try and change the topic.
Jack - You work?
Demi - Yeah.
Jack - Like an actual job?
Demi - Obviously.. ?
Jack - How do you manage to juggle a proper job and Youtube.
Demi - It's hard, a lot of my free time is dedicated towards Youtube and stuff, but I'm not wealthy enough or successful enough to be able to rely on just YouTube, besides I see YouTube as more of a hobby rather than a job.
Jack - Whoa. I'm impressed. I like your thinking, it's makes you seem very... Humble?
Jack - Is humble the right word? I mean it as a compliment, you're very down to Earth and you can tell you're doing what you are for the right reasons.
Demi - Haha, I get you and Thanks, I do like to think myself as very.. Humble :P
After we got over that slope the conversation was thriving, we ended up messaging consistently until the early hours of the morning just getting to know each other and joking around together. He was honestly cracking me up. I didn't realise it had gotten so late until my mum came into my room asking me to keep it down as I had woken her and my dad up whilst they were sleeping with all my laughing.
It was 1:30am and I decided it was time for me to go to sleep as I had to get up early in the morning for work. I told Jack I was going to bed and put my phone down on the beside table besides me. As I was closing my eyes my phone lit up and I couldn't help but take a look before I headed off and I couldn't help but smile as I read it, he even sent me an 'x' with this message.
Jack - What a way to ruin a good conversation ;) I'm kidding. Speak tomorrow? x
(Once again thank you to everyone that has been reading, I feel like things are really starting to pick up with Demi and Jack now as the first 10 chapters were a little slow on that, but I just felt like we needed a few chapters in to introduce the characters and their personalities and set the scene, plus I don't really like those kind of stories where the writer just jumps straight into everything, I like to take it nice and slow which I believe makes it more effective.
Also I'm sorry I didn't update for a while. The Christmas period was super busy and I suffered a bit of writers block for a while not knowing how exactly to carry out that chapter, but I'm right back onto it now with 3 chapters within 2 days :D And I also want to apologies with all the texting that's been going on with the last couple chapters. I promise it won't carry on like this, I know I don't like stories involving so many 'text scenes' and I wanted to avoid this, however they need ways to communicate and get to know each other whilst their friendship is still blooming.)
Remember to give the story a like if you're enjoying it and perhaps comment too, all feedback is highly appreciated, even the negative! Thank you again! :D)
