Chapter 19
The Empty Ice Castle
(Elsa's PoV)

The troll leads me to a huge cave in the side of a hill. I stop outside of the opening. From outside I can hear many voices and shuffling. Should I really do this? I think for a second. I shake the thought out of my head. I can't let fear take over me.

I walk into the cave to find hundreds of trolls staring at me. My entrance had quieted their conversations. Their big yellow eyes seem to penetrate my soul. They know what I'm here for. "Elsa the Ice Queen," a troll says as he walks up to me. It's the same one that gave me my ice powers. Perfect. "You have come to us for something. What is it?"

I smile, "I need power. Enough to create an entire army." The troll smiles as back at me, if you could call it that. "I need to finish what I started with these stupid people." I continue.

The troll in front of me puts his hands out, "I can do that, My Lady," I put my hands in his without hesitation. I'm no longer afraid of what these trolls will bring. I've gone too far to be afraid. Coldness makes my hands go numb. Power surges throughout me. My eyes close as the troll speaks strange words. Then he lets go.

I open my eyes and see ice everywhere. "Now go," the troll says to me, and I go. Once outside of the cave I decide to test my powers. With a gesture of my hand I form a body, legs, sand a head. Then before me stands a Frost Wolf. I put my hand on his snout and take him in. "Go warn Arendelle of my coming." And it takes off across the Dark Valley.

(Anna's PoV)
Kristoff and Sven lead us to a weird valley where heat comes from the ground. The whole place gives me a weird déjà vu. Like I've been here before. "We're almost there," Kristoff says. I shiver even though it's actually quite warm here. It seems as if Elsa's curse didn't affect this place.

Kristoff looks back at me and notices me shivering. "Here," he leads me over to a warm spot. "Thank you," I mumble. "Umm," he begins, "about my friends- well I say friends but they're more like family. When I was young I didn't have anyone so they just took me in. I just want to warn you, they can be a little inappropriate and loud and heavy. Very heavy-"

"Kristoff," I cut him off, "they sound wonderful." He smiles then runs forward into a little field of boulders. "Meet my family!" he gestures to the boulders. All I can do is stand there.

(Hans's PoV)
My men and I trudge up the mountain until we can see the ice palace. The giant hunk of ice sits on the edge of a cliff. Not the best place for a castle, I think. My men and I trudge up to the stairs. Snow shifts beside the stairs and a giant snowman stands up.

I unsheathe my sword and swing it at the monster. I hit him, sending him falling over, and dive past him to the stairs. I feel a weight on my back as the snowman pulls me down. I grab hold of the stairs and watch the monster plummet to the ground. One of my men comes to help me up. We run up the rest of the stairs and throw open the huge doors.

Silence greets us as we search the rooms of the castle. Elsa's gone. And so is Anna.
