Chapter 22
The Ice Queen Returns
(Kristoff's PoV)
I can feel the snow on my back now. I was stupid to think a reindeer could outrun an avalanche. I pull on Sven, steering him towards a building, hoping to block the snow behind us. Suddenly Sven trips and sends me flying forward. I face plant into the snow and more begins to pile up on me.
Sven tries to keep me from being covered but his efforts only help a little. The coldness seeps into me and I feel like I can't move. Sven finally pushes me out of the snow and I notice that the avalanche has already passed. "Come on Sven." I jump up on his back.
I know that Sven is trying to run as fast as he can, but I can't help thinking we will be too late. The castle comes into sight and I'm filled with relief when I see that the walls surrounding it have stopped most of the avalanche. The only problem now is getting in. The snow covers the gate and the only way inside is to climb. I jump off Sven and into the knee-deep snow.
Every time I put a foot down I fall right through. Snow finds its way into my boots. About half way up the snow pile I can't even feel my feet anymore. I just keep my mind set on Anna; breathlessly I say her name, over and over. Finally, I reach the top. A crowd stands below. Everyone is looking at something. No. Someone. My eyes widen. "Anna!"
(Elsa's PoV)
"The avalanche stopped?" I ask the ice soldier I sent to Arendelle. He nods. "Very well," I wave my hand and the soldier turns back into snow. I turn to the other three soldiers. "Let us continue on."
We reach the edge of the town. The houses are covered in snow and ice. If I wasn't able to harden the snow under my feet I most likely would sink in up to my ankles. At the castle walls I push the snow aside. The gate stands open. I cringe at the sight. People fill the courtyard and the ones at the very edge turn to see what moved the snow. Someone screams and the chattering of the crowd dies.
(Kristoff's PoV)
Anna lays half dead in my arms. Frost covers her face and her arms have turned blue. "True love's kiss," I say as I lean down. My lips hover over her's. Then, someone screams. I jump back and turn to the source of the sound. The crowd parts and the last person I expect to see walks towards me. "Elsa," I gasp.
Elsa's eyes fall on Anna. Even though she smiles I can see a touch of sadness in her eyes. In that moment I realize something. "Elsa," I lay Anna down and stand to face Elsa. "You still love Anna don't you?" She flinches a little at the word "love."
"So you can't just let her die," I continue, "you--"
"Enough!" Elsa exclaims and two human-like creatures appear from behind her. The ice creatures surround me with their swords pointed at my chest. "You are a fool! I don't love anyone. Especially not my sister."
"Queen Elsa!" Someone shouts from behind me. Elsa and I both look and see a man with brown hair standing at the top of the stairs to the castle. "Your name is Hans, right?" Elsa asks him. Wait, Hans? That's the guy Anna is engaged to. I look back at Anna who appears to be just as bad as before. I have to kiss her, I think. Quickly, I lift Anna up and bring her lips to mine.
(Elsa's PoV)
By the way Hans looks at me I can tell he means to kill me. He holds his sword out in front of him. His hands shake but I can't tell if it's from the cold or fear. He doesn't seem like the type of man to be afraid of killing someone. I look down at the blonde man. He's holding Anna in his arms and I can see the color coming back into her cheeks. Both anger and relief fill me.
I form an ice dagger in my hand and raise it above my head aiming at the boy. Suddenly, I see a flash of orange breaking through the crowd. "Stop!" A small snowman stands between the man and me. "Please Elsa," it continues, "don't hurt Anna or Kristoff!" As I look at the talking snowman my anger seeps out bit by bit. I lower the dagger and drop it to the ground. The ice soldiers beside me turn to snow and ice.
Then a woman in the crowd screams. All I see is a flash of silver and the snowman's head falls to the snow-covered ground.

A/NUgh I'm a horrible person. Last time I said I would write super fast but I didn't :( I can't guarantee how fast the next chapter will be written but I will try and write it soon. The story will come to an end soon as well. Also, I felt like the cover needed to change so I guess you could consider this the final edition. Thanks for sticking with me!!
