Chapter 21

True Love's Kiss

(Elsa's PoV)

After deciding to give the people of Arendelle some time to think I begin making my way down to the kingdom. I only made three soldiers to follow me. That way I can surprise them when I create hundreds more inside the kingdom. As I make my way I can't help thinking about Anna. What happened to her? Before all this I might have hoped she was okay, but now I hope she is suffering. Or, even better, dead. A smile creeps across my face as I think about it.

(Anna's PoV)

"The only way to remove it is by a true love's kiss," the troll says. Everything he says after that is pure gibberish. All I can think about is true love's kiss. Where could I... Hans! "Kristoff," I gasp, "I need to see Hans!" His eyes widen. "Of course!" Then he picks me up in his arms and carries me over to Sven. I'm so weak I can barely protest. Kristoff sets me on Sven's back then gets on behind me. Without even being told Sven immediately sets off galloping.

The ride is cold and bumpy but I could care less. I set my mind to Hans. Thinking about him warms me just a tiny bit. I close my eyes and focus even harder. Something soft touches my head. Kristoff's hat. I smile at his kindness and lean in closer to him for more warmth. Before I know it we're already in Arendelle. I hear a gate open and people talking, but I don't hear what they say. I get set down on my feet. My legs are so weak but I manage to shuffle.

I get taken inside the castle to a room with a couch and a fire. Then the door opens and Hans comes rushing in. "Anna!" He exclaims as he runs over to where I'm laying on the couch. "Hans," I gasp, "you have to...kiss me."

"Kiss you? Why?"

"Elsa froze my heart. It's the only way to save me." Hans just looks even more confused. Then he seems to realize what I'm asking. His hand lifts up my head to reach his. I close my eyes. I can feel his breath on my lips, then he laughs. "Oh Anna," he pulls his hand away, "if only there was someone out there who loved you." I open my eyes to see him standing up and walking towards the fireplace. "As thirteenth in line in my own kingdom, I didn't stand a chance. I knew I would have to marry into the throne somewhere." He picks up a pitcher of water.

"As heir, Elsa was preferable, of course. But no one was getting anywhere with her. But you... You were so desperate for love, you were willing to marry me just like that! I figured after we married, I would have to stage a little accident for Elsa." Then he empties the pitcher over the fire, extinguishing it.

"Hans," I gasp. "No!" The cold is already beginning to seep in. He smiles and walks back over to me. "But then, she doomed herself, and you were dumb enough to go after her. All that's left now is to kill Elsa, and bring back summer." Rage fills me. Elsa may be evil but she's still my sister. In fact, I don't even know what to think about her anymore. "You're no match for Elsa," I hiss at him. "No, you're no match for Elsa. I, on the other hand, am the hero who is going to save Arendelle from destruction." Then he walks back to the door.

"You won't get away with this...!"

"Oh... I already have." The door shuts and I'm left alone in the freezing cold room.

(Kristoff's PoV)

Sven and I trudge through the streets of Arendelle. We did what we came here to do and saved Anna, but I can't help feeling incomplete now. Even Sven seems a little down. At the outskirts of the town we stop. I can't help but look back at the ice covered castle where Anna is now. "Come on Sven," I say and keep walking away. I barely make it four feet before Sven is standing in front of me blocking the path.

I try to step around him but he just moves to cut me off. "Sven!" I yell at him. Then he picks me up and throws me back into a snow drift. "Sven we can't go back," I stand up, "she's with her true love." Then he looks at me look I'm stupid. I begin walking again when suddenly I hear a loud, booming noise. It sounds like the marching of giants. I look ahead of me to see huge piles of snow sliding down the mountain side.

"Sven we have to go!" I hop on his back and he starts running back in the direction of Arendelle.

(Anna's PoV)

My body barely even has enough energy to shiver anymore. I feel like giving up and close my eyes. I hear a muffled scratching sound. Then the sound of a door opening. "Anna!" Olaf! He rushes over to me. "You're freezing!" I hear his feet pound on the floor. Then the sound of sticks hitting each other. Then a flick. I open my eyes to see the fire blazing again. "Olaf get away from there." He runs over and pulls me to the fire.

Warmth surrounds me but barely penetrates the frozen feeling I already have. "Where's Hans? What happened to your kiss?" Olaf asks. "I was wr-wrong about him," I stutter, "it wasn't true love."

"Well I'm not leaving here until we find another act of true love... Do you have any ideas?"

"I don't even know what love is anymore." I mumble. Olaf comes closer. "Love is...putting someone else's needs before yours. Like how how Kristoff brought you here and then left you forever."

"Kristoff...loves me?" Olaf tilts his head and says, "Wow you really don't know anything about love. Do you?" Olaf's nose slides down his face and he pushes it back up. "Olaf," I gasp, "your melting!" He just smiles and answers, "Some people are worth melting for," his face falls but before it gets too bad he lifts it right back up, "just maybe not right this second."

Suddenly the window flies open bringing even more cold air with it. Olaf runs to close it but stops. "It's Kristoff and Sven!" He jumps up and down. "I guess I was wrong. Kristoff doesn't love you enough to leave you behind." I start to stand up with the little enters I have left, and begin shuffling towards the door. "Anna wait," Olaf yells at me. "Olaf," I turn to him, "we have to go to Kristoff."

"Oh!" He exclaims as he realizes, "there's your act of true love right there!" Then he runs to open the door and pulls me out with him. It isn't too late, I think, I just have to find Kristoff. At that moment I begin to hear a rumbling. We burst through the doors to find a huge group of towns people standing inside the castle courtyard. "Princess Anna!" I hear one yell. Olaf and I push past the crowd and out the gate, but once I'm outside my legs stop moving. And I huge avalanche is coming right this way.
