Chapter 5
The Dark Trolls
(Elsa's PoV)

I just let it slip out. I don't want to have parties everyday and I didn't mean what I said to her. While no one's looking I sneak out of the room.

I head to the only place I know will be empty. The library. I walk in and immediately notice a figure standing in the corner. "What are you doing here?!" I yell at them.

The figure turns around and I find an ugly old man standing before me. I didn't notice him come in or see him at the party so he must be uninvited. "I'm sorry, your majesty," I couldn't help myself. Your library is amazing."

"What are you doing here? Who are you?"

"You don't need to know who I am. All you need to know is that I know what you want."

I hold my breath, "You want to be free of this kingdom. Well," he says, "I have a way you can."

I let the breath out. "You do?"

"Yes! All you have to do is go see the Trolls."

"The Trolls? How could they help me?!"

"Not those sweet, happy, springy trolls. The Dark Trolls!"

"Dark Trolls?" There are Dark Trolls now? "How can they help me?"

"They can give you freedom. All you have to do is come with me."

"I-I don't know." I can't believe I'm having trouble deciding. This is all I ever wanted! How could the decision not be right in front of me! I just can't think at the moment.

I hear someone say, "Where's the Queen?"

"I have to go. I'll think about it," I say.

"You'll know where to find me!"

As I walk out the door I stop and look behind me. Then I walk into the ballroom.

As I walk in I see Anna pushing her way through the crowd. "Elsa!" she yells at me. "Oh, Elsa."

She is standing with a young man I recognize from the coronation. "This is Prince Hans... And we," Anna starts before looking at the man. "Would like," the say at the the same time then look at each other again. "Your blessing," Hans says, "On... Our marriage!" they finally say at the same time.

"What?" I just get confused. Marriage? She continues to say something about ice cream and brothers coming to our castle.

"Anna," I say once I realize what's going on, "nobodies brothers are staying here and no one's getting married."

"What?" Anna says.

"Can I talk to you? Alone? Please?"

"Whatever you have to say you can say to both of us."

I sigh. Does she have to make it any harder than it already is? "Anna, you can't marry someone you just met."

Anna's expression becomes serious. "You can if it's true love."

I can't believe her! "What do you know about true love, Anna?"

"More than you! All you know is how to shut people out!" I take a step back. Does the truth always hurt once it's spoken aloud? I have been cruel to her, I know. But she has no right being this cruel to me, sister or not.

"You ask for my blessing, and my answer is no." At that I walk away. The man was right. I need to leave.

I look at Hans. His expression is sad. "It's alright," I say, not knowing who I'm reassuring, "she'll see what's right. Just give her some time. That's all."

But when I look at Elsa I know it will take more than that. It always will.

I go back to the library where I find the man again. "I'm here to take up your offer," I say with as much authority as I can.

He just smiles at me. His crooked brown teeth make me shiver a little. He laughs at me. "This better not be some sort of scam either," I say, "because if it is I have the power to have you thrown in prison!"

"Oh my lady," he says, not looking worried at all, "this will not be a waste of your time." He puts out his hand, "Take my hand and I will bring you to the Trolls."

I look at his hand. Then back to his wrinkled face. Slowly, I take his rough hand. Then my whole world turns blue and I don't know where I am any more.
