Chapter 14
The Prophecy
(Elsa's PoV)The ice shards recede into the wall with a wave of my hand. My ice palace is blue and purple. A huge feeling of relief makes me gasp. Why would anyone want to live a life of those stupid villagers! This is better than anything they will EVER have.
"Elsa," a voice says. I stiffen. Not again. It was probably just the wind. "Elsa," it says again. I turn quickly. No ones there. "Who's there?" I yell to them. Then I raise my hands in front of me ready to strike them with ice.
"Elsa," it says. I throw out a bit of warning ice. "Show yourself!" I hear footsteps behind me and spin around. At first I think my eyes are playing tricks on me, but then I realize this is real.
It's my mother.
(Anna's PoV)
Olaf runs ahead of us. Kristoff is walking beside me and Sven is trying to catch up with Olaf. I yell to Olaf, "How much farther?""Just a bit," he replies. He's been saying that for the past hour. I don't know how much more of this I can take. My legs hurt and I'm frozen from head to toe. I hear Kristoff sigh beside me.
After about 15 more minutes of walking I finally give in. "Hey guys," I say, "I need a rest." Olaf stops and turns. Them he walks over to me. Kristoff turns and asks me what's wrong.
"Nothing," I tell him, "I'm just tired. Aren't you?" he just shrugs. "I'm more used to this than you." he says and then walks over to a tree to lean against. I go lean against my own tree to catch my breath. Then I hear a twig snap behind me.
I whip around to find a figure walking towards us. Kristoff is all of a sudden beside me. "Who's there?" he yells to the figure.
Then it holds up it's hands and continues towards us. When it's closer up I see that it's a man wearing clothes similar to Kristoff's with a mask covering his face.
"I mean no harm," he says, "it's just been awhile since I've been in the presence of another person. Especially two. " I sort of feel bad for him. Poor guy, he's been out here with no one for a long time hasn't he? Then I look at Kristoff. Why didn't I feel sorry for him? Oh right. He had Sven.
"Who are you?" I ask the man. "My name is Jonathan," he replies.
"It's nice to meet you," Kristoff says rather rudely, "what are you doing out here?"
"I've been wandering ever since I left the kingdom of Arendelle last spring."
"Wait," I stop him. "You lived in Arendelle?" he nods. "I'm Princess Anna of Arendelle. I'm out here looking for my sister, Queen Elsa. Do you know anything about her?"
"Not much? Why would a queen be out here in this weather?"
"Actually," I hesitate, "that's sort of the reason she's out here. You see during her coronation I sort of made her use her ice powers that she's tried to keep secret for years, I think, and she kind of set off an eternal winter."
Jonathan just blinks. Then he sort if whispers, "The prophecy has been fulfilled."
"What? Prophecy?"
"There is a prophecy that one day a ruler with a frozen heart will curse the kingdom of Arendelle with eternal winter."
"But," I start. Elsa? Frozen heart? She can't be the one in the Prophecy. "It can't be Elsa. I mean, sure, she sort of ignored me for years and didn't even go to our parents funeral. That's beside the point. Elsa's not evil."
"Are you quite sure about that?" he says. I begin to doubt myself yet again. "Well," he says, "I guess I should be on my way. Good luck with your sister."
I nod and he leaves. I turn to find Kristoff, Sven, and Olaf all staring at me.
(Elsa's PoV)
"Mom?" I whisper. She nods. "But... but... but you're... dead." I stutter. This can't be. She's been dead all these years. But I knew. I always knew. She is still alive."No, Elsa, I'm not." She says. "But you knew that, didn't you?" I nod. I look at my feet. Then look up. She is looking around my palace with a look of disgust on her face.
Then she looks back at me. "How could you do this to us, Elsa? You have destroyed our family name. You sold your soul to the devil by making a deal with those trolls."
"How do you know about that?" I gasp.
"Oh, Elsa, I know everything that has happened to you and Anna since I left. I know how wanted to leave. I know how you would do anything to make that happen. And you did." She spits her last words at me.
"Well if you hate me so much why don't you just leave?" I spit back.
She sighs. "Because I have to tell you something. Have you ever heard of the Winter Prophecy?" I shake my head. "Well, dear Elsa, it is about you. It states that one day a ruler with a frozen heart will curse the land."
She then walks over to me. "That ruler is you Elsa. For you really do have a frozen heart." By then I'm fuming. How dare my mother come back here after all these years and tell me I have a frozen heart.
"I'll show you a frozen heart!" I yell at her. And I shoot my ice at her. Straight through her heart. She falls to the ground. I will never forget the last look on her face. A smile.
