Chapter 17~Stupid sticky snow

Jake piled up wood for a bonfire, but before Benjy could light it I stopped him.

"I wanna do it." I told them. I held up my hands and concentrated on creating a flame. I had closed my eyes for more focus and when I opened them, the fire was lit.

"Whoa."

"Cool right." I smirked at them.

"Playing with fire?" Seth joined us.

"In all its red, flamey, glory." I said back to him as he grabbed my hand.

"That's what I'm talking about. A little pre-battle bonfire. Telling war stories." Jake sat down next to Benjy on a log. "Or just stand there like statues." He added, noticing the majority of vampires rigid posture.

"Name any American battle. I was there." Garrett bragged, sitting down by the fire.

"Little bighorn." Jake encouraged.

"I came this close to biting Custer." Garrett help up his thumb and pointer finger, positioning them close together. "But the Indians got him first."

"Try Oleg's assault on Constantinople. He didn't win that one on his own." Katie appeared next to Garrett.

"If you're talking battles, you're talking the Eleven Year's War. No one does rebellion like the Irish." Liam, the only male in the Irish coven, boasted.

"You lost the Eleven Year's War." Garrett reminded him.

"Aye. But it was one hell of a rebellion."

We were all sitting around the fire, me on Seth's lap.

"When we ruled, everyone came to us. Prey, diplomats, favor seekers. Such was our power. But we never put on white hats and called ourselves saints." Vladimir, aka creepy 1, told us.

"We were honest about what we were." Creepy 2 added.

"We sat still for a very long time. We didn't notice we were beginning to petrify."

"Perhaps the Volturi did us a favor when they burned our castles."

"We've been waiting 1,500 years to return that favor. We have been ready to do battle for ages." Creepy 1 finished their story.
