So, with the announcement of the new Life is Strange game, I remembered that almost 10 years ago I wrote this fanfiction.
I've been rereading it with my partner, and it has been an absolute blast and rollercoaster to see what 15 year old me considered romantic and healthy. And the spelling... yikes. No further comments on that.
Life is Strange, and in addition, the writing of this fanfic has played a major role in my development as a teen all the way into my early young adulthood. It was my escape, a coping mechanism to deal with teenage angst, discovering and experimenting with my genderidentity and sexuality and, in general, a safe space where I could be myself.
LIS made me write. Writing made me want to pursue a higher education. That pursuit cost me a lot but has paid off in the long run. Long story short, this game and this fanfiction literally changed my life.
I am now 25. An adult, yet I still have so many questions, fears, and unknowns to solve and discover. On this 10 year anniversary, I wanted to look back on what I created, but more importantly, I wanted to be reminded of all the interactions. The unhinged and hilarious comments. The yearning and simping over fictional characters. The drama of putting these characters in insane situations (seriously, they would need decades of therapy after everything I put them through). The encouragments, the very valid and valuable criticisms. But most of all, having this silly game be a bridge between so many different people and having a space where everyone could just unapologetically be themselves.
I hope life has been kind to all of you. I hope that whatever challenges you face, you will prevail over and grow stronger for the next one.
I hope your lives are filled with love and kindness, friends and loved ones, laughter, and happiness.Thank you all for being part of a small but significant part of my life.
I am forever grateful.Wisshing you all hella good luck.
Yours truly,
BluePunkRockRebel
