~~ Sophia's POV ~~
"Sweetheart, please, we need you to speak for us," the lady says
"You've done it once when you called 911... you can do it again," the guy next to her says.
I looked outside and saw some guy with his wife and child playing in the park. Sometimes I wish I had a normal childhood with a father that knew me and a Mother that didn't mistreat me maybe even loved me. But we never get what we want in life... do we?
She leaves in frustration.
the guy sighs, "Janet," he says as he follows her. I heard him say a couple of things about trying not to lose her patience with patients like me.
I couldn't help but smile to myself. Finally at peace.
She comes back after a couple minutes, "She Isn't much of a talker," she says to someone.
"Fine with me," a guy says taking a seat on the couch across from me
"Fine," she says leaving the room and leaving me with a stranger. Maybe he's some therapist yet he does not look like one at all, he had long curly yet wavy hair. He looked Hispanic from the color of his skin.
"Hi, I uh," he starts off saying, "I'm your dad," my dad? Seriously? "my name's Vic."
I looked back outside, who called him? No one told me that he would be here. I'm sitting across from my dad, the person who left fourteen years ago, what does he want from me now?
"Um so, a little about me, I am 31 years old. I'm in a band called Pierce The Veil, I sing and play the guitar, it's not too famous but it's still pretty famous."
I look at him to indicate I'm listening. Was the band the reason why he left? Was the band more important than me? Than raising his own child.
"My brother Mike is in the band he plays drums. my best friends Tony and Jaime are in the band as well. My parents are excited to meet you, especially since they always wanted a grandchild... I know they'll like you."
I look back outside.
"I want to apologize, for never being a part of your life, I do hope your mom treated you right. I know she did, but I will be the best father ever. I'll try to be at least, I don't know what there is to raise a child but I do know that I do love you."
Did they tell him about my past? Was he not informed of how my mother mistreated me? And if he did love me then why did he leave.
"Okay, so I'm back with the forms," the lady, whose name is Janet says as she enters the room
Vic starts signing them
"You sure about this? If I were you I wouldn't sign them," she says to Vic. The nerve in this lady.
"Well you aren't me and she is my daughter and I would do anything for her," he says finishing the papers and handing them to her. I can't believe he said that to her, maybe he does love me. My mother would never defend me like that.
"So thank you very much with your cooperation, we'll be leaving now," Vic says as he stands up and looks over to me.
I take this as my cue to get up. I walk towards my bag
"I got them," Vic says smiling at me.
I give him a half smile and follow him out. Maybe this won't be so bad?
