"So," The incredibly hot guy opens the mocha bottle and fills two shot glasses, which he pulls out of his black sweatshirt's front pocket, "Why were you tearing up back there?"
As much as I'd like to, I can't pull my eyes from his hazel coloured eyes. As a matter of fact, I not only can't pull away, but it feels like he's compelling me to tell him everything of what's happening. There is just something in his eyes, that makes me think, that I can trust him with my secrets and he's just a stranger, who won't tell anyone anything.
Should I tell him? Ah, hell, why not?
He hands me the shot glass and our fingers touch for a second, but then I realise, that he hasn't even told me his name and I have to stop referencing him as 'the hot guy'.
"I don't even know you nor your name. Why would a stranger want to hear my annoying problems?" We both clink the shot glasses and empty them at once. Mocha burns my throat slightly, but it's not like I've never drank, so the feeling doesn't catch me off guard and the hot guy doesn't think I'm a lame'o.
"Well..." Placing the empty glass next to him on the stairs, his eyes drill into mine, making me unconsciously move closer to him. "My name is Nicklaus. But you can call me Klaus." With a wink he reaches for the shot glasses and fills them up again.
"I'm Adèle." I say, drowning yet another shot of mocha, hoping that I won't be getting dizzy soon.
For some time, we sit on the porch. Nobody comes out of the house and popular music is still playing loudly, making me wonder how the neighbours keep up with this and don't call the police.
"I wonder why the neighbours haven't called the police yet - that music is loud enough to be heard down the street." Thinking out loud, I say.
Instead of agreeing, Klaus just snorts. "The neighbours won't call the police, trust me."
Eyeing him, I ask. "What makes you so sure?"
Klaus just shrugs casually, staring right ahead, his eyes hardening slightly. "There are no neighbours in these houses. It's just me here."
Gaping at Klaus like a fish, I'm almost unable to ask: "Is this...your party?" When Klaus nods his head, all I can think of is how I wasn't even invited and he must've been rude to me, because I was someone, who wasn't supposed to be here.
"Crap. I'm sorry I came uninvited. I just had a really shitty night." Feeling uncomfortable, I murmur. Claus's eyes find my face and they soften.
"Don't stress it. People do it all the time."
"Must be annoying."
"Gets better with time." With a little laugh, his face softens completely and my breath almost hitches from his adorable smile. Alexey's smile pops into my head, but I focus on Klaus and manage to get Alexey out of my head.
We chat for a while about school and university, about how he's studying engineering at university (which means Jessica studies engineering, too. Interesting!) and I even tell him about Alexey. And Klaus even suggests beating him up - though I'm not sure if that's a joke or not.
As we talk more and more, I feel the pressure in my bladder get more and more uncomfortable. "I need to pee."
Klaus gets up immediately and helps me get up, too. His touch is soft and warm, making me feel a bit squishy inside. Forget it, Adèle!
"Bathroom is on the top floor, right next to the stairs. I'll wait for you inside - we're gonna dance." He smirks and adds a quick wink at the end, making legs feel like gummy.
"Okay." I respond breathlessly. As I make my way up the stairs to the bathroom, I try to open the door, but it is occupied and a girl's voice yells: "Occupied!"
The voice seems familiar, but while I'm thinking who's it is, the girl starts talking in hushed tones, but loud enough for me to hear, since I'm standing night next to the door.
"Alexey, I know you're worried. But it's your own fault." I stop breathing, realising that it's Saf, who's talking in there. And Alexey?? I press my head against the door, trying to hear better.
"No. Don't even try that, horsey. We're staying where we are right now and tomorrow we're still not coming home. Yeah, I don't care. Tell Irma I said 'fuck you'." She snaps, making the hairs on my arms stand up.
Is Saf talking to Alexey? My Alexey? But where did she get his number? Wondering, I remember, that my phone is still in Carmen's car, so Saf can't be using mine. And she was with me all the time, so there is no way she could've gotten his number today.
Saf's phone rings again. "Can you stop calling? I hear your ex calling you to bed." There is a sharp pain in my heart as she says that. Fighting against the tears, I decide to listen on, just in case she turns out to be talking to another Alexey and his Irma.
"No. You'll see her only on your English Lit lesson. I won't let you hurt my friend, brother."
Suddenly, my breath leaves my body once again. Brother?! Is Alexey really Saf's brother?
I mean, yeah, they kind of look similar, but heck!! Why didn't she tell me that they're relatives?
As I'm standing at the door, shocked, it suddenly opens and Saf emerges out, almost making me fall down.
She notices me and the shock on my face and decides not to play stupid with me. "Adèle, I'm sorry about him."
I feel my head shaking from left to right rapidly as tears emerge and my vision starts to blur.
Somehow I manage to run down the stairs and spot Klaus, standing right next to the stairs, talking to some guy with a weird neck tattoo.
Klaus hears me running down and looks up, to see my tearful face. Immediately, he comes to me and pulls me into an embrace. "What happened?"
I sob into his chest and my breath hitches so badly, that I can't even talk. Vaguely I hear Saf's voice demanding Klaus to release me, but, thankfully, he doesn't and then I feel us moving.
We walk up the stairs, Saf still following us. Without a word, Klaus takes me into a room and locks it behind us, leaving Saf behind.
