Hey, guys! Before you dive in the chapter, could you pleease comment what you think of the new cover? I have an other option, but I want to know your opinion on this one first :) Thank you! <3
As we were waiting for the 46th bus to get to the trampoline place, I still couldn't shake off the weird feeling. I needed to tell somebody, but I knew Alexis wouldn't take these news too well. Gosh, I miss Saf. I need to reach out to her SOON, because I can't contain all this. How strange is it that I can tell all of this stuff to a stranger rather than my best friend?
A brilliant idea pops into my head and I pull my phone out in a monkey speed.
"Alexis, I just had the most brilliant idea ever! I have wanted to introduce you to Safya for a while, but I didn't know how, but I just realised we could ask her to join us... That is, if you don't mind." I falter. Remembering how Alexis though we were drifting apart, I get afraid, that she would not enjoy Saf's company, since we wanted to make this an 'us' time.
To my pleasure, Alexis looks excited, not sad or offended. Thank God she's always been quite social and friendly, so she isn't intimidated when somebody joins us.
"Sure, the more the merrier!" She giggles and reaches for her bag to take out a bottle of water. Uncarbonated, may I add, because it always bugs the both of us. Whenever I take a sip of her water, I want to puke, because I like my water carbonated, but she hates it and vice versa. That is such a silly thing to want to puke about, but this seems like sort of an inside joke for the both of us.
I notice I'm wrinkling my nose from the thoughts of still water. How can anyone like still water? Ugh.
When I find Saf's number in my contact list, I dial her immediately, knowing darn well she'll be beyond excited to talk, too.
"Oh my God, is that really you, Adèle? I thought you had forgotten about me. I miss Bub, you know." She laughs and I can't help but join in. She sounds so genuinely happy to hear me, that my smile almost splits my face in two parts. I look at Alexis, who is now eyeing me with a risen eyebrow, but I just wink at her. She'll see why I like Saf so much.
"Actually, I was calling to ask if you wanted to hang out today. I have a girl-friend that I'm dying to introduce you to. She is a real angel, truly." Alexis giggles and fans her face in fake flattery. That makes me giggle and she can't help but laugh, too.
I hear a happy squeal in my ear and am forced to take my phone further away from my ear, so it doesn't start to bleed. I love Saf, but... Ugh, that word again. Love.
After quickly telling Saf our today's plan, she seems happy about our activities, so she agrees to meet us there after 30 minutes. We still have to wait, like, 10 minutes for the bus, so we might actually be there around the same time. We both say our goodbyes and hang up.
When I turn to Alexis again, she is scrolling through her phone. At first she looks totally calm, but then I notice she is slightly frowning. Usually, when that happens, she is nervous on the inside and really holding it in, so others don't worry about her unnecessarily.
"Are you worried about meeting Saf?" I ask her.
"No, I am actually looking forward meeting her. She seems really nice and funny."
"Then what is it?" I press.
Alexis doesn't answer for a second, she just puts her phone in the small pocket of her navy blue backpack and crosses her arms. This way she usually shields her before some awkward talk is about to happen. Oh my, what is this about?
