Party time

"Can't you just drop me off at my place? I'll sneak in somehow." Feeling extremely shy around Saf's friends, I try to get out of this party thing. I've never been a party girl, and the thought of being surrounded by lots of drunken teenagers made me feel anxious. I'd much rather be in my bed and cry myself to sleep about Alexey's attitude towards me.

Saf grins. "Nah, babe. You don't have to be alone right now, especially after that asshole left you alone to run to his ex."

Sadness washes over me, but I keep my face straight, not wanting to talk about it anymore. I'll get over it somehow. After all - I knew right from the beginning, that this wouldn't work for long.

"So, where is this, uh, party?"

"It's at some dude's house. He's in the same course at university as me. We've never talked, but I heard his parties are lit as heck." A gorgeous brunette smiles at me, throwing her silky hair over her shoulder. From the first look she looks completely magnificent and I automatically expect her to be snobbish, but as she talks, I understand, that she's not snobby at all. She actually seems really kind, as I would expect Saf's friends to be.

"How did you get invited, if you've never talked?" This seems weird to me, since, like I said, I've never been to an actual party, that isn't a birthday party.

"That would be because of me." Another girl grins, her brown eyes contrasting beautifully against her blonde, honey-coloured hair. Both girls are so beautiful, that it makes me feel a little self-cautious. Why am I always the ugly one? Even Saf is looking gorgeous with her mesmerising blue hair on the background of her black leather jacket.

Noticing Saf's outfit, I remember, that I'm wearing a totally inadequate outfit for a party - jeans and a plain sweater, that I threw on when running away from Alexey's apartment.

"We really should make a detour at my place, guys. I'm not an experienced party-goer, but even I know, that my outfit is not okay for a party." I look out of the window, feeling too awkward to even face my new friends and Saf. I know it's wrong to feel stupid for not going to parties, but when I am surrounded with these amazing girls, it really gets to me. Ah.

Saf puts her arm around my shoulders as the car takes a sharp turn to the right and Saf and the gorgeous brunette fall on me. "A, I'll give you this leather jacket and you'll look bomb as hell, I promise."

I look into her eyes, feeling thankful for such a friend like Saf again. "Thanks, Saf."

She grins at me, making me smile in return and forget the vibrating phone on my lap.

"Carmen, babe!" An attractive, jock type collage boy comes towards us as we enter the house, wrapping the blonde girl in a bear like hug. "How about a kiss for the guy, that got you in, eh?"

With a devilish smile he waits Carmen's kiss, but as she attempts to place a smooch on his cheek, he turns his head at the last moment, making her kiss him on the lips. Holding my breath, I wait for her to slap him for being so disrespectful to her, but she just beams back to him, making me realise, that they must be into each other.

"Do you want something to drink?" Saf whispers into my ear as I continue to stare at Carmen and the jock-guy, as they exchange a flirty banter.

Tearing my eyes away from the couple, I look at Saf, who is beaming at me, totally excited about the party. I must admit - the music sounds totally bomb and people are actually dancing and drinking here, not just doing shit and sitting everywhere, like I imagined they'd be doing. As the song "Uptown Funk" by Bruno Mars comes on, I recognise the familiar tune and my body starts to twitch to the familiar tune. Soon enough, Saf holds my hand and pulls me into the dancing crowd.

As the song changes to an oldie, but goodie - "Billie Jean" by Michael Jackson, I hear myself sing along the song loudly and really enjoying myself. Carmen and the other girl, that I find out is named Jessica, find us and join our dance, forming a circle, that attracts even more people, who barely know each other, but it doesn't matter, because it all feels right - just to dance here with complete strangers to a good music, with or without the help of alcohol.

I swing my hips to the next song, but accidentally hit a boy standing next to me. I turn to him and start to apologise, but he just gives me an annoyed look and says something along the lines of "watch where you're going, bitch." Rude! I try to ignore him and continue to enjoy my night, but what I can't ignore is - he's completely gorgeous and his brown tousled hair looks like a total masterpiece. His cheeks look like they've been personally carved out by God and he's got that ever-so-charming rebel and bad-guy attitude and vibe. Of course, that's not good and my radar immediately suggests, that I stay away from him, but he is, hands down, the best looking guy here. No wonder he's so rude.

"I'll be right back. I need some fresh air." I partially yell in Saf's ear, because the music has been turned up more, so it's nearly impossible to talk normally without shouting. When Saf tries to come with me, I just wave her off, not wanting to pull her away from this fun circle. I will just go outside and take a breather. No biggie.

When I push myself through the crowd in the home owner's spacious place, I finally reach the door and step outside. Though I'm sweating like crazy, I don't take off Saf's leather jacket, since it would be quite irresponsible to fall sick now. We've got finals soon and I would rather love to graduate this year, not the next one.

When I take two deep breaths, Alexey flows back into my mind. I wonder what he's doing right now. Is he with Irma? Are they doing THAT? Making my way to Carmen's car, where I left my phone. Thankfully (or maybe unfortunately) she has left the car unlocked. Taking my phone, I notice there are 20!!! missed calls from Alexey and 5 text messages from him.

*Where are you??*

*Please don't be mad about Irma. You will like her when you meet her!*

*Are you OK? Where are you?*

*Adele, please reply. I'm worried sick about you.*

*If you don't reply soon, I'm calling the police. Or worse - your parents.*

With a sigh, I write a quick reply. *I'm fine and safe. Enjoy your night with Irma.*

My heart aches and I put my phone back in the car, unable to read yet another text message from Alexey. It is painful enough to remember how he left me there for some girl.

A small tear escapes and runs across my cheek.

"Don't like the party?"

I jump, taken aback by the sudden unfamiliar voice near me. Turning to face the person, I realise that he's the drop dead gorgeous boy, looking straight into my eyes with no concern. It seems like he's just asking because of politeness. I also recognise him as the boy, who was rude to me earlier and it makes my heart harden. Quickly wiping the tear, I force a smile on my face.

"It's okay. I just needed a quick breather." I walk around him and move towards the entrance, but his hand catches my wrist and pulls me to a halt.

"Hey. I'm sorry if I was rude to you earlier. Didn't mean to." He shrugs carelessly and then holds up a bottle of mocha. "Care for a quick shot?"

His apology takes me aback and I feel awkward, not sure what I should do next. My eyes stray to my hand, which he is still holding. He notices it and then releases it, mumbling an apology. With that, he walks over to the stairs in front of the entrance and pats the space next to him.

Hesitating for a second, I decide to go on and join him. It's what people do at parties, right? They make new acquaintances and take risks on sitting with strange, mysterious dudes, who are totally gorgeous. Right?
