It has been three days since Arthur and the others left. Adelaide and Gwen looked through a window as guards began to close the gates to the city, people were trying to come in but they were not allowed to come in. Adelaide heard Gauis' voice from the hall. He was ordering servants to get more blankets.

"Gauis." Gwen said and Gauis walked towards them, where they stood on the stairs. "The guards are under orders to shut the city gates at dusk." Adelaide said looking up at Gauis, who stood a few steps away from them. "Whose orders?" Gauis asked, he did not know anything about it. "Lord Agravaine's" Gwen said.

Adelaide and Gwen followed Gauis to the council chambers, where the council were in a meeting. As they walked in Adelaide saw Agravaine at the head of the table, where Arthur of Uther would usually sit.

"Gauis. Have you come to join us?" Agravaine asked, Gauis just looked at him, "Why have you closed the city gates?" Gauis asked not answering Agravaine's question.

"We have limited resources, Gauis. As much as I would like to, we simply cannot feed and water the entire kingdom." Agravaine said. Adelaide and Gwen gave the man strange looks. "Surely the people have a right to be protected." Gauis said, Agravaine's face did not change, he still looked as if he didn't really care for the people of Camelot.

"I would be putting Camelot in danger, starvation, disease. You of all people must understand Gauis. The gates will remain shut until we are free of the evil that plagues us." Agravaine said, Gauis gave the man one look before turning to leave. Adelaide was disagreeing with what the man was saying.

"Now, gentlemen, where were we?" Agravaine asked the lords or the council. "My lords," The moment the words left her mouth Adelaide knew she might regret it as everyone turned to look at her, "May I be granted permission to address the court?" Adelaide questioned, Agravaine smiled as he leaned back in his chair, "Adelaide," He said as he moved his hand indicating she can speak.

"Prince Arthur taught me long ago that every citizen of Camelot is important. He would never stand by and let them suffer. He would help them if he could and we must do the same." Adelaide said as she stood straight, her head held high, just like Kassandra taught her to. Adelaide watched as some of the lords started to think about what she was saying.

"I feel the pain as much as you, but we don't have a choice. If we keep letting people in, our food will run out within days." Agravaine said and Adelaide started to shake her head in disagreement. "You're wrong." Everyone looked at her surprised that she would tell a lord that he is wrong.

"Perhaps you would enlighten me." Agravaine said staring Adelaide down, in a way of telling her to stop but she ignored his look. "Those outside the gates are landowners, farmers, for days the refugees have been bartering their wares with the townsfolk in return for the safety of their hearths. They bring with them far more than they take." Adelaide argued, Gwen had told her all these things, that way she knew what was going on in the heads of the towns people.
