Adelaide and Gwen walked through the lower town. They had nothing to do since Arthur and some knights and guards went to catch the bandits that were trespassing on Camelot grounds.
Adelaide was waiting in her room for Arthur to show up. She watched from her window as he and Merlin rode through the gates of Camelot. She picked up the skirt of her dress and walked to Arthur's room top wait for him.

Arthur entered his room and Adelaide threw her arms around his neck. "Did you miss me?" Arthur asked smiling down at Adelaide. "Yes, I did." Adelaide said. Merlin entered and and Adelaide greeted him as well.
"If you need me, I am spending sometime with Gwen. She asked me if we could talk, so I will be staying at her house." Adelaide said smiling at Arthur later that night. Arthur nodded.
Adelaide sat at Gwen's table as the two of them talked after having dinner. A knock came to Gwen's door. Gwen stood up and opened the door. It was Arthur. "I'll leave you to to talk." Gwen said leaving when Arthur came in. "Can I get you anything? Something to eat?" Adelaide asked as she walked to the wooden table in the middle of the room but Arthur stood near the door. "I'm fine, thanks." Arthur said, "I won't be staying long." He said again and the smile on Adelaide's face disappeared. "Oh." She said nodding.
"Adelaide, please believe me when I say that you've done nothing wrong, and that none of this has anything to do with you." Arthur said and Adelaide frowned. "None of what, Arthur. I don't understand." Adelaide said looking at him.
"Things have changed for me, with my father gone, it falls to me to rule this land." Arthur said
"I know what a responsibility that is." Adelaide said walking closer to Arthur. "And now that I'm king, it's no longer relevant what I may or may not want for myself. My only duty is to the people of this land. I'll be judged by my actions, who I'm seen with." Arthur said
"You're ashamed to be seen with me?" Adelaide questioned. "NO-- No-- But now that I'm king, it's not appropriate."Arthur said. "So what you are saying is that I'm not appropriate?" Adelaide asked.
"It seems not." Arthur said looking down.
"Listen to yourself, Arthur. This doesn't sound like you. Who told you this? Who made this decision for you?" Adelaide questioned coming to a stop in front of him. "No one told me this. I'm my own man. I make my own decisions." Arthur said looking at Adelaide.
"So you decided all on your own that we can't be together?" Adelaide asked frowning. "Yes" Arthur nodded, "I'm sorry, Adelaide. It's just the way it has to be." Arthur said.
He started walking towards the door. "Arthur, don't let anyone tell you what to do. You said you are your own man, you have a good heart. Be true to it. Only then will you be the king you want to be." Adelaide said and Arthur left.
Caerleon's queen called for war against Camelot and Adelaide, Gwen and Gauis stood on the stairs looking out a window as the knights and guards of Camelot left. "Don't worry Adelaide. He'll be backs soon. I'm sure." Gauis said. "it's different this time though, isn't it? Arthur's king now. The fate of Camelot rests on his shoulders alone." Adelaide said looking towards Gauis.
"He's not alone, Adelaide. You above all people should know that." Gwen said touching Adelaide's shoulder. "I know that, but I'm not sure he does." Adelaide said looking at Gwen.
+After Battle+
The battle was victorious. Well there wasn't actually a battle. Now Camelot and Carleton have a treaty.
Arthur layed in his bed. Gwen entered. She was carrying a jug with water. "Guinevere, question, Where is Adelaide?" Arthur asked sitting up. "In her room, sire." Gwen answered. Arthur stood up and walked to Adelaide's room. Arthur knocked on the door before he entered.
Adelaide was seated at the table but when Arthur entered she stood up. "Sire." Adelaide said greeting Arthur. "These are for you." Arthur said handing Adelaide flowers. "Sorry but I don't know what they are for." Adelaide said fiddling with the stem of the flower.
"They are to say I'm sorry, Adelaide." Arthur said.
"You don't need to apologize. I understand why things have to be the way they are." Adelaide said. "Hmm. A good king should also be true to himself and do as he sees fit and be seen with those who he cares for." Arthur said
"Even it they're not... appropriate?" Adelaide questioned. Arthur pulled Adelaide closer by the waist until she was against him and he kissed her. "Does that answer your question?" Arthur asked.
"It's a start." Adelaide said smiling slightly and they kissed again.
