Gun shots fired. Shot guns, automatics. They all fired. Almost everyone was there. All but the kids and Maggie. Second trimester, five months along. I was still fighting. Ocean side and the garbage people were fighting along our side. The Hilltop, Alexandria, The Kingdom, Ocean side and garbage people against saviors.

People were shot, killed. I had to keep fighting along side my family. I'm sorry dad, but we're the winning side. I'll do anything I need to, to make sure of it.

We hid behind trucks and cars as I shot my gun and reloaded it.

Looking over, I saw someone throw a grenade to the saviors as I ducked down behind a car, taking deep breaths. I looked down the street as Carl came over sitting next to me, "you ok? You want to head back?" He asks, "no, the fight isn't finished."
"Jess, fight finished or not, if you need to head back, then do it."

We looked to each other as I nodded a bit as we went back and aimed our guns and continued to shoot.

The battle lasted hours when the saviors went back. I stood up and looked to everyone. I saw Rick and Michonne talking to Glenn, Daryl, Rosita and Jesus. Carl stood next to me. I nodded smiling to him, he pulled me close smiling and kisses my head. Everyone started getting in their cars and drove back to where we belonged.

I got out, seeing Maggie come out of her trailer, her hand on her stomach. Glenn got out of the car and went to Maggie and hugged smiling.

"Jess," Rick says looking to me wanting to pull me aside. I walked away with him as we stopped by a tree, "me and Glenn have been talking, we think it's time for you to step down and stop fighting."
"Why? You guys need as many people as you can get."
"I know, but we fear about what could happen to either you or the baby. We just ask for you to step down for the next four months and after to care for the baby."

I sigh looking down and then back up to him, "fine," I say softly and nod, "you can help keep this place in check." Rick smiles walking away.

I leaned on the tree. In the corner of my eye, I see Carl walking over, "what did my dad want?" He asks, "he's asking me to stop fighting, and I told him I would," I say softly. Carl nodded and hugged me.  I hugged him back and held him close, laying my head on his shoulder, "what if the saviors attack here while you guys are out?" I ask softly looking at him, "I know you can Maggie will take care of them." He smiled a bit kissing my forehead and held me closer.
