To Kill A Queen

New Recruits Part Two

As we were walking, the sun started peeking out behind the clouds. I squinted and put my hand over my eyes. Pandora stopped walking and Red growled. I realized that we were standing on a hill looking down over a village.

"We can stop here and buy some new clothes."

"How?" Erin asked her. "Even Naomi said that we have no money!"

"Honey." Pandora replied. "I'm a witch, I can make money appear out thin air or make ordinary objects look like gold."

Red turned to face her. "So, why are you carrying around mortal money?"

Pandora shrugged. "Are you complaining?"

Red shook her head vigorously. "No."

We all walked down to the village.

"Get your fruit! Only $5 a pound!" One man shouted to the crowd of people.

"Get your bread here!" Another called back.

Naomi was looking at a booth with swords. "Finally! Someone who knows how to make swords correctly!"

"Yeah. It's like people have forgotten that swords aren't meant for hunting. Rather for winning battles."

I walked over to Naomi. 

"Hey, what're you lookin at?"

"Swords." Naomi answered. She gestured over to the girl next to her. 

"This one can see that they're expertly made."

I looked over at the girl next to Naomi. 

"Sonic. Lovely to see you again. Where's Moonlight and Moonwolf?"

"Buying some more clothes and food. I'm the only one that uses real weapons, and mine are worn down. I heard you were on your way to the Feary Queen. Can we join you?"

I stared at Sonic. "How did you guys know about that? And does Moonlight know about this?"

"Yes." a voice behind me said.

I turned around to see Moonlight.

"I know. And yes, the three of us would like to join you."

I shrugged. "Alright. I didn't kill you at the Fountain, so I would imagine you're immortal"

"And you would be correct." She fake bowed. 

I gestured for everyone to come over. Erin came with a piece of bread in her mouth and Red dragging her feet in the dirt behind her.

"Guys. This is Moonlight and Sonic. They were with me when I was at the Fountain of Youth."

"Hi." Moonlight said. "Eli, I actually have something for you." 

She handed me a stack of papers. I looked through them. They were WANTED posters for each of us.

I found mine and looked at the price. 

"$150. Pandora is $200. Diana is $175. Naomi is also $175. Bronze is $200. Jean is $200. Erin is $180. Red is $180. Moonlight is $200. Sonic is $200. And Blair is $210."

"How is a pixie worth more than a witch?!" Pandora shouted. 

 Blair just looked over and smiled.

"How am I only $150!" I shouted. "I'm literally off to kill a queen!"

Sonic snickered. "Yeah, but look at y'all's pictures. They look almost nothing like you!"

I handed everybody their flyer. Sonic was right. Mine portrayed me as childish with pigtails. We all burst out laughing. I noticed that Moonlight was gone. Now where had that child run off to?
