It's going to be a long night. Why? The answer to that question lies in who I am currently on the phone with. Yo was so frustrated with something that happened today that he's been complaining about it for the last hour. The thing is, when Yo gets worked up he tends to get into a rut meaning I will probably hear this story quite a few times.
"Director, Doctors, board members, and is that Khun Daichapanya I see there?" Yo says in a mocking voice.
"The NERVE! That cow!" He starts out. This will be my third go round with this story.
"My entire office was there Ming. The EN-TI-ER OFF-ICE." He says slowly and drawn out. Just in case I missed it before.
"I was so embarrassed. I know why she did it. She was trying to say that I used connections to get my position." He rants.
"But didn't you tell her you owned the hospital?" I insert.
Quiet. All sound stops at this moment and right now I am so grateful to be 400 miles away from him.
"WHOSE SIDE ARE YOU ON!!! AREN'T YOU MY HUSBAND! YOU SHOULD BE SUPPORTING ME NOT HER!" Yep. That's about the only way that could've gone.
"I'm just saying that you taunted her first." I tell him calmly.
"Taunted? Did you just say I taunted her? She accused me first." He says. I can hear the anger in his voice.
"And you took the bait." I say.
"ASSHOLE!" He screams.
"Yes, but I'm right. Anyway, what happened next baby?" Working him towards the transition.
"Right, so everyone at our table looks up and sees my entire office. Pii looked shocked at first but then quickly changed his expression. Everyone else just stood there like deer...caught in headlights."
"What did your dad do?" I lead. I already know this story so I know how to help move this along.
"My dad stood up and walked over to Pii. Then he thanked him for recognizing my worth." I can hear the grin in his tone.
Yes I mean that. By the way he's speaking I know he's giving a shit eating grin thinking of that woman.
"Pii then went over all of my good points and why he chose me for the position. I kept watching Khun Hanwutinanon to see how she would react. It was so satisfying to watch as her smile faded slowly. Then I thought she would pass out when he invited the office to have lunch with us. Of course they declined, but that's not the best part." He says getting excited.
"What's the best part babe?"
"She was so frustrated she made a comment about me." He says.
Wait I don't remember this part and this is the third time I've heard this story.
"What did you just say?" I ask.
"Huh? When?" He asks.
Is playing cute right now? I can feel myself getting upset. Did she insult my wife?
"What did she say?" I ask a bit harshly.
"Oh that. She just said she shouldn't have expected anything from a group of people that would accept a freak like me." He says.
He speaks quickly. I know he left this out before. He did it on purpose because he knows I'd be mad.
"She said what!" I roar into the phone.
"Didn't I tell you before? Why are you getting mad now?" He asks sounding confused.
"You know damn well that you didn't say this before. You left it out on purpose. I bet if you hadn't been so excited about what happens next you would have left it out again!" I scold.
