Red And Blue Are Opposites [ObiX(Y/N)]

Chapter 8

"Well," Obi says and grips his sword firmly. "Let's start!" He says and immediately flings at me. My reflexes jump in and I block his swing.

"How polite of you to attack after counting down." The words slip out before I think about it. Obi's eyebrows shoot up at my sarcastic words and he smiles even broader.

"You know, you've been showing more and more character." He says and lifts his sword to block my counterattack. "I'm really glad!" And then he flashes a somewhat shy but honest smile, I feel warmth coming from my chest again and just like during the hug, I don't get what I'm feeling.

He sees that I'm a bit lost and moves to attack me again. I swiftly dodge his swing and set to counterattack. We try to deal blows like this alternately until Obi suddenly kicks the sword out of my hand.

"Whoops, sorry Miss." He says with a mischievous grin. I waste no second the next time his arm stretches out and grab his wrist while putting my other hand against the side of his head. I then turn his arm while pushing his head down and he lets go of the sword with a grunt. I continue pushing him down until he's on the ground. I place my knees on the sides of the arm I've been holding up and listen to Obi's protests.

"Ouch ouch ouch, okay Miss you win! You got me locked!"

I let go of him and stand up to grab my sword.

"I have to admit, you are very skilled." He says while rubbing the wrist I grabbed.

"You okay?" I ask while eyeing his arm.

He laughs, "You should worry before doing that to me." he then says.

"Well, it's actually payback." I say and show the red skin of my hand from his kick earlier.

He chuckles. "I really like it when you talk, Miss." He says earnestly with a grin.

I look at him and our eyes lock. "Then it must have been fun hearing me talk while following me yesterday."

His face shows surprise and I feel the corners of my lips tuck upwards slightly. Am I... smiling?

Obi doesn't seem to notice as he had looked away. "Y-you knew? But.. how.. since when?" He looks at me again, but my little smile had already faltered.

"Since the beginning. You started following me after I met Zen. Was it an order?"

"Geez, your skills are scaring me." He halfjokes before nodding. "It was. Zen wanted to make sure you're no threat."

I think a bit. "Are you allowed to tell me that then?"

"Well, if you let the 'ally' know they're being doubted then won't they behave better?" He points out and I agree. "Besides, I think Zen already trusts you more than he thinks."

"... Shouldn't you all be more suspicous of me?"

"I don't know, should we?" And he looks directly at me. Had I lowered my guard even more than I have now, I would've definitely flinched at how hard those cat like eyes suddenly seem. All the warmth is gone and I feel a great sense of hostility. He's testing me and I know it is just that, but it is still scary.

I shrug and shake my head. "No, I just feel like you'd harm yourselves by trusting others too much."

His eyes turn friendly again and he smiles. "We trust you, (Y/N). And we're going to rely on you soon too, you should try to do the same."

What? They trust me? They will rely on me? Moreover, rely on them? ... It sounds like a home.. have I finally found one after so long..?

"Well, that is if you plan on staying with us." He says and jumps up to grab his sword. "Anyways, it's your choice. For now, let's spar again."

We spar for about half an hour before taking a break. Most of the rounds he had beaten me and to be honest he is quite terrifying. He obviously caries great assassination skills and also, his eyes.. I've been to quite some places so I recognise the look of killing intent, most of the time it's hidden, but during attacks or when he was testing me earlier, it shows a little. No doubt has he killed someone before. This is just so easy to forget with his personality.

We both sit down and catch our breaths. My thoughts suddenly wander to my nightmare and I realise I still need to thank him properly for his comforting me.

"Obi-san," I start and his head perks up at the sound of his name.

"Just Obi is fine." He waves his hand to emphasize his words. "Master will probably tell you something similar too."

"Obi," I start again and his eyes focus on me. "...Thank you for comforting me the other day."

"Ah that, you're welcome." He smiles a moment before frowning. "Had any nightmares after?"

"... a few."

"Do you always get nightmares?"

I shake my head. "It started since I got here."

"Then... " he looks at me and smiles mischieviously. "Should I acompany you at night?"

One of my brows shoot up as if to question his sanity. He begins to laugh loudly as he lets his back fall on the floor.

"Ah man, I didn't expect your pokerface to break!" He says in between laughs. I look away from the laughing man on the floor and look at one of the trees on the side, waiting until he's done laughing. The laughter dies pretty quickly, so I look his way again. My eyes widen in surprise as Obi's face is suddenly very close. He had moved to a kneeling position and was staring in wonder at me.

"W-what?" I question.

"You were smiling!" He exclaims excitedly and he grabs my shoulders. "Come on, smile again!" He says whilst shaking me a little.

The words needed to sink in before I could find any words. "I... really?"

"Yes! Now come on smile again!"

I scan his face for a bit. He looks like an excited kid who just received his Christmas gift and before I realise it I smile again. The corners of his lips meet his eyes as he smiles broadly and suddenly jumps with his arms upward.

"Victory!" He yells jokingly and I continue smiling at the excited man.

This week has been my craziest week ever. In case you're wondering what I have been doing for the deadline:

I spent at least 40 hours within 5 days on this thing! It's for school and omg I'm so happy to finally sleep more than 6 hours T~T
