Antonia's POV
"Don't stress too much Antonia. I know your dad's surgery will go smoothly" Gianna tells me as I shake my legs uncontrollably.
I can't concentrate on Mrs. Ross's lecture right now. All I can think about is my dad.
"Is there anything I can do? Do you want me to come spend the night at your place" she asks me.
I just nod and continue to shake my legs. I feel my heart beat picking up its pace. It feels as if it's going to burst through my chest. The anxiety I'm feeling is too overwhelming.
Gianna reaches over and gives me a hug during the middle of class.---
I wait for the twins at the bus stop with Gianna standing by my side.
"Hey Gianna" the twins yell as they leap in her arms.
"Hey guys" she chuckles at their excitement.
We enter our home, and I get them a snack to eat before we head to the hospital. My mom calls and said the surgery went well and that they should be coming home in a few days.
"After we eat these apples, are we going to see dad" Annette asks.
"And then after we see him, we're going to Danny and Dianna's house for their birthday sleep over right?" Anthony looks up at me,
Crap. I forgot all about that.
"Of course! Eat up" I tell them.
---
"Okay kids. Go say hi" Gianna encourages the twins to enter the hospital room.
We walk in slowly behind one another, and my dad lays there resting. I can only hear the beating of his heart monitor. My mother smiles right when she sees us.
She needs some happiness in her life right now. I guess that's us.
"Thank you for coming, Gianna" my mom hugs her.
"Of course Mrs. Provano! You and Mr. Provano are my second parents" Gianna smiles.
Her love for my parents is so sincere.
My mother and the twins are chatting amongst themselves about what has been happening with them in school. I sit down in a chair next to my father's bedside and hold his hand.
I'm glad he's well.
He slowly opens his eyes and turns his head my way. He smiles when he sees that I am the one holding his hand.
"Hello my beautiful daughter" he squeezes my hand.
"How are you feeling" I ask.
"Better now that my children are here" he speaks while glancing at the twins.
Annette and Anthony jump to his bedside as soon as they hear our dad's voice.
"Are you better now, dad" Anthony asks him.
"I am better now. No need to worry about me kiddos" he smiles down at them.
