Alex
I woke up with the morning light piercing through the blinds and on my face.I put my hands on my eyes covering the light from permenantly damaging my pupils. welcomed by the sweet smell of egg and waffles. Delightful.
I wouldn't even bother about how I looked, so instead of washing my face and fixing myself I went straight downstairs without any further hesitation.
"Morning" Dad greeted while flipping a waffle over. "Morning" I yawned swatting a waffle off the plate on the table.I sat down on a chair and began nibbling on the stolen waffles as if I was a hungry begger.
"So you're going to the woods today?" Dad asked pouring me a glass of orange juice from the fridge. "Yes" I answered. "Just be careful alright? those woods don't look safe to me" he said. I could see the concern written on his face like a diary explaining his feelings. "I'll be fine dad" I rolled my eyes."You better be fine" he muttered.
"Why do you want to go to the woods anyway? you should be scared of it" he said. "I want to take pictures so I can sketch them, and I don't need to be scared of the woods" I argued."Okay, it's a bit cold outside so you might want to grab a jacket" he said.
"Don't worry, I'm going in an hour or so, there is no hurry in exploring the woods" I said. "Thank you" I whispered and went back upstairs. I may have said such a thing however as soon as I took the chance I bolted right after I had changed.
After I had finally fixed myself by washing my face and brushing my teeth etc, I went back into my bedroom. What I was going to wear didn't bother me the slightest. So I took out random clothes and put them on. I was too excited to care about what I was going to wear as if someone had given me ecstasy.
walked downstairs and straight out the house. My eyes fell upon the herd of trees before me. They stood tall making everything under it look vulnerable. I walked closer to them feeling the wood beneath my fingers.A small path was carefully coiled between the trees like a snake hiding in a thicket. The woods were peaceful as I had thought. There was no sudden sound apart from a little scurrying sound which travelled in a soothing pattern, probably from a small animal such as a rat or a mouse.
I gazed upon the trees before me and the scene was quite breathtaking. Golden sunlight peaked through the cracks between the trees giving light to the small patches of grass below.
I raised my camera up to my eye and captured the scene.
"This is perfect" I whispered looking at the picture I had took.I put my camera safely back into my bag and clutched the strap of the bag closely. The wind blew the loose strands of hair off my face.I walked along the path, my feet crushing leaves under me, making an annoying crunching sound. I know there might be wolves here..somewhere and I am aware of them but I am not afraid of them. I feel somewhat connected to them in some way.
My eyes fell upon a tall tree on my left. My eyes travelled from the top of the tree to the bottom and it stopped at some rough markings at the bottom. My fingers trailed down the markings and there were 4 sharp cuts in the hard wood. Definitely clawed by a wolf. A sign of territory maybe?a
I was disturbed by the sound of a twig breaking. I stood still and felt someone or something's presence behind me.I slowly turned around to face a beautiful grey wolf staring at me. His beautiful grey fur flew in the wind. The wolf simply stared at me. It wasn't a stare of threat, no, it was more of a stare of curiosity. The beautiful creature moved towards me gently without making any sound. His gaze was fixed on me. I admired the beauty of the startled creature in front of the clawed tree.
It was probably clawed by the wolf or from some other wolf.I gently moved my hand and dug it into my bag looking for the camera. I scooped it out with my eyes still fixed on the creature. I brought it up to my face and took a picture of it. He didn't seem alarmed at all which had got me confused. Wolves are very protective creatures and for me to stumble into their territory would mean certain death.
I placed my camera back into my bag and watched the wolf cautiously. He gently moved one paw and walked towards me. He didn't look he was going to harm me. And running away would alarm him. He gently put his head down as soon as he was near enough that I could touch him.
His diverging gesture had given me the idea that he wanted me to pet him. As strangely as that sounded for a protective animal to want a mere human to pet him. It wasn't a friendly creature and for that to happen you normally need to visit it and feed it for a wolf to get comfortable with youI unclenched my fist and slowly my hand approached the wolf. I gently rested it on the top of the wolf's snout , trailing onto the soft fur. The wolf didn't seem to mind. A smile lit up on my face. This was truly remarkable for me to touch a wild wolf without any help needed. The wolf had it's eyes closed and focused on my touch. I moved my palm up and down it's fur, feeling the fur scrape my skin softly. This was my first encounter of these beautiful creatures and to top it off my first touch of them. I admired the look of the wolf. A black line trailed along it's beautiful brown eyes making them look big, they looked as though the wolf wore thick mascara. It lined the eyes giving them a beautiful shape. The wolf's fur consisted of grey and white patches on it's paws and a white line trailing along upto it's snout.
Suddenly I felt a sharp pain on my head as though something hit it hard and I fell. My vision blurred and I slowly blacked out.
