I waited patiently for the golden wolf to come my way. I worriedly nibbled on my bottom lip. Horrific scenarios replayed in my mind of both wolves lashing at eachothers throats with blood staining their teeth. The whole idea of Hunter ripping at Ruben's throat made me cringe. I was more worried about Ruben than Hunter, because I have seen Hunter fight, and it's not pretty. Why won't he just leave me alone, that way we can all be happy. He can go with the blonde he was kissing earlier, and I'll finally be free. freedom is all I want. I crouched down, and leaned on my knees. I would have ran back home but Ruben had told me not to. I threw my head back and leaned against the wall and took in deep breaths.
Excitement washed over me as I heard slow footsteps coming my way, At the sound of them my eyes shot open, and my worry had vanished. I got up, and turned back towards the hallway.
"Ruben" I excitedly murmured, but it was soon vanished when my eyes met Hunter instead of Ruben.
He had a large paw mark on his bare chest, it was a deep cut with traces of blood dripping.A few scratches were found on his tanned abs and traced in edgy angles. but Hunter didn't show any sign of worry. My expression faded to guilt. His hair was messy and he was limping precariously.
It's not him that's making him do this. It's this stupid tradition wolves have. It was never him.
"I don't understand" he shook his head.
"I marked you,how are you not mine?" he murmured, with a hurt expression on his face.
"Look Hunter, just stop this. I don't want to be your mate. I want to live my life like I want it" I crossed my arms and stared at him.
"but you don't understand, I can have any girl in the world but I want you. Mates are the only ones that love eachother and you won't even do that. It will be himiluating for an alpha to be rejected by his mate" he responded.
"So this is some sort of game you wolves play? Playing with girls lives is what you call mating? you're sick. How about you tell the pack that I was never your mate, and that it was a mistake." I suggested.
"You don't understand, you'll die without me Alex" he pointed out.
"I hope you and the blonde are happy" I snapped, and walked past him. But this time he didn't stop me. Instead he watched me walk away, which I'm greatful of.
I kept my eyes on the ground, and sped up my pace in case Hunter would come back to me. Again I bumped into something hard , which made me fall back onto my back.
I rubbed my forehead and murmured a sorry to the person I had just thrown myself at.
I looked up and saw that it was Ruben. He looked normal, apart from a few harmless scratches along his arm. He wore a different t-shirt to the one he wore before which had gotten me suspicious that he is hiding a wound.
"Alex" he murmured. "I thought I told you to stay put?" he murmured gently.
"I know but, I bumped into Hunter earlier on and I needed to get out" I replied.
"What happened?" I asked.
"Well we fought for a couple of minutes, wrestled scratched eachother. But then we stopped and started talking. We had no reason to fight"he replied.
"Atleast you're not hurt" I nodded.
"Look Alex, he's not a bad guy. Sometimes his anger just gets the best of him, and he can't control his feelings for you. It gets out of hand" he explained, and reached for my hand to help me stand up. "I'm having trouble believing that" I sighed. "Just look at this why. Try not to make him feel like shit. Because you never know you might not see him ever again" he muttered, and straight away I knew what he mean't.
