I walked along the dark grass, happily. Memories of the past caused me to smile. My Dad was really thoughtful. Who can bother to remember something from years ago?
I gently brushed my fingers across the trees. Ignoring some of the wood blisters on my skin.
I decided to take the other route round the Clawed tree, to prevent being seen by Rodgers. I wasn't fond of his visits. Neither did we know each other much. He gets on my nerves from time to time, making me wish I was a wolf so I can claw his eyes out. I'd love to scratch that stupid smirk off his face. I wouldn't mind doing that at all.
I stared up at the blue sky, white clouds gently floated across it. I looked back at the path before me. I had took the route around the clawed tree, but I couldn't seem to find a way out. I don't know where the hell I'm going.
"Red riding hood?" Someone spoke. Judging by the ridiculous nickname and devilish tone. The voice can only belong to the one and only Hunter. I cursed under my breath and whipped my head around to face him."A coincidence seeing you here?" he smirked reluctantly. His gaze travelled to the bow clenched in my hand. "I see you're enjoying your birthday gift" He pointed out, leaning against the oak tree.
"What do you want?" I hissed. "Can I see the bow?" He asked. Before I could protest his hands were already reaching for my bow but my hands were still clasped against the metal of the bow. I moved my bow further back and his finger gently scraped against my knuckle. I watched in amazement as he stiffened as if the small touch frightened him. His hands fell at his sides. Gee, do you have to be so paranoid about a small touch?
Without another word said I decided to leave when I had the chance. I turned around and walked away. The trees were getting thicker and thicker and the space to walk was narrowing. There wasn't a path made. It was actually just trees everything. Nobody bothered to do anything not even trim the grass or get rid of the wild vines clinging along the trees. The wood was pretty abandoned actually. I bet it wasn't even given a name by humans let alone looked after. My fingers brushed against the rough wood of the trees.
Stray leaves shifted on the ground from the heavy wind. More leaves blew from trees and the ground as the wind picked up more speed. My cloak blew in the direction of the wind.
"Okay, lets go to the house and you can tell me" he smiled, tugging on my arms as he pulled me into the house.
His house remained the same as I had last saw it, it was very.. Homey.
We settled down on the sofa.
"Okay now tell me" he smiled.
I rummaged through my pocket and scooped out the letter from mum. I handed it to him.
"Read it" I instructed. He gently unfolded the old paper and started scanning his eyes through each line. He furrowed his eyebrows and surprise filled his face.
After he was finished he looked back at me.
"Wow" He mouthed.
"So does it make me a wolf or?" I asked, uneasilly.
"If you were a wolf, you would have learnt to transform into one ages ago, so I think not" he answered, while biting his lip.
I let out a sad sigh.
I immiedietly slipped into thoughts, as they travelled round and round and stopped on a particular one.
I looked back at Chase. His eyes focused entirely on the letter and his eyes skimmed the writing on the letter.
"Chase" I muttered. My voice disturbed Chase's focus on the letter and he stopped to look at me.
"Hm?" He answered.
"Why does Hunter hate you?" I asked, curiously. Chase furrowed his eyebrows at the name.
He looked at me and searched my face for any emotion. He cleared his throat hastily before answering.
"He doesn't like our pack because we are of different blood" he answered.
"There are different types of wolves and they differ through their blood Hunter and his pack are born of pure wolf blood, meaning both of his parents were full wolves, whereas I am a half blood. My parents were pure blooded however my father had ancestry blood, meaning he grew up with human parents but someone in Hus previously family was a wolf and my dad therefore inherited the wolf gene.
Hunter dislikes mixed blood of any kind.
Hunter's reason to dislike Chase was definitely unreasonable. In fact it shouldn't even be labelled as a reason as it is utterly ridiculous
Soon, Tyler, Damien, Brooke, and David entered the house. Damien took one look at me then let out an annoyed huff. I rolled my eyes at his behaviour and he stomped into his room and shut the door behind him like an angry child.
"Happy Birthday" they all cheered, in sync.
I smiled with pleasure, overwhelmed by their gleaming smiles and eyes filled with happiness. This was what it was like to have friends. It felt beautiful.
"So Ally, what did you get from your dad?" Tyler asked, sitting next to me on the sofa.
"I got a bow and arrow, from dad" I answered, showing the carved arrow to him.
He took it in his hands, and ran his fingers on the metal.
"You know how to work this thing?" he asked. Holding the contraption as if it was some kind of complicated machinery
"Kind of" I murmured.
He gave me back the bow and I put it around my shoulder so that it hangs behind my back.
I watched Brooke send me a wink from the kitchen as she poured coffee into a large black mug.
"Hey Brooke" I said.
"Hey Alex, so how's it going with Romeo?" She asked, while wiggling her eyebrows.
I chuckled at her.
"I need to tell you something, but you have to promise not to tell anyone" I whispered.
She furrowed her eyebrows at me.
"Are you cheating on my brother?" she asked, with a serious cadence to her voice.
I shook my head at her.
"No, I would never do that. It's something else" I muttered.
"Okay, I promise not to tell anyone" she said, while putting her palm to her heart.
"Alright, well you know Hunter-" I recalled, but before I could finish she cut in with an agitated groan.
"I hate hunter. he's such a prick" she muttered.
"Oh sorry, carry on" she smilled.
"Hunter has been stalking me for a while, and it's kind of like a hate thing but today he hugged me, and I'm strangely confused because he doesn't like me" I muttered, while watching her pour coffee into a mug.
"It seems like he's trying to get you away from Chase" She answered, while humming along to an unknown tune. I thought for a second at her words.
Maybe she was right. Sure at one time I thought he might not be all that bad. But this is really sudden and the hatred he has towards Chase suggests the same thing. Brooke was right.
"Thank you Brooke" I thanked, pulling her into a small hug.
"I've had it with guys, I needed true advice, thank you " I smiled.
She smiled back.
"Anything for my sister" She muttered, while flipping her blonde hair to one side. I smiled at her words. She takes me as a sister. Which is truly sweet of her.
"Just remember one thing,If you ever need anyone to talk to. I'm there alright?" She smiled, while handing me a cup of coffee. I took it off her and gently sipped it.
Well if Rodgers is playing games. Two can play at this game.
