Alex
I woke up safely on my soft bed. The light peeked through my open window and into my room .I stretched my arms and legs and let out a nice yawn. I smiled remembering the passed events from yesterday. I could still feel the lingering kiss on my forehead.
Fairies, who would ever thought I would see fairies. I will cherish that memory forever. I glanced around the room it was a mess. Clothes thrown everywhere my sketches covering the mahogany table. My small journal lay flat on my table. Ever since I had discovered wolves I had decided to write everything down in a small journal. So I can relive the moments I adored.
I got up off my bed and admired the view from my window. Watching the wind blow the leaves off the trees, The whispering of the wind. The crunching of the leaves. Many might not find anything interesting about that. But I do. The first day , when I came here. I had already considered this as my home
I decided to take a little walk across the wood explore it more. Hopefully find the litte fairy river again. Or even something better. I went to the bathroom. I observed myself in the mirror.
I thought about the wood, my friends, Chase.
No doubt he was my first, and maybe best boyfriend yet. I sighed as I precariously ran my fingers through my hair. My feet itched to walk through the wood once again and feel the leaves crushing beneath my feet. I've never felt so at home.
I opened my closet to analyse it. I took out a purple shirt and blue jeans. I grabbed my cloak, and rushed out of my room and fled downstairs into the living room. Before I could flee from the house my eyes fell on the ripped edge of my cloak. My fingers brushed against it as the scene of where it happened replayed in my mind. The bite, the kiss and him. A scowl formed on my lips. What a great first impression of Hunter, injuring my friend and threatening me. What a gentleman.
I shook my head and walked outside closing the door behind me. I sighed as I heard the vigorous clack of the wooden door shut behind me.
The warm wind welcomed me sweetly. Already I had started my search for the fairy river. Walking, past trees and rocks. The woods atmosphere was humid trees blocking most of the heavy sunlight and the sun unable to burn the moisture through the clouds and treetops. Soon the clouds part and the sun rays peek through ever so slightly. I remembered the path in which the river lead however it was the only way passed the clawed tree, which disturbed me.
I saw the tree in-sight, and no one around it. I silently thanked god in my heart for seeing nothing but the tree and hearing nothing but the gentle whisper of the wind.
I started walking closer to it until I heard the pounding of paws. My heart throbbed as I felt my stomach drop to my knees. I stood frozen on the spot. My heartbeat sped up as I felt someone's warm breath touch the back of my neck. Oh no.
"Morning" he whispered in my ear I felt his breath slap my left cheek. I shuddered. I could smell the heavy smell of nicotine and vanilla in his breath."I see you haven't taken my advice" he said as he circled around me. I let out an agitated chuckle. "If I'm correct, your 'advice' was more of a threat" I snapped. His smile tilted to one side. "Whatever gets my message across" he remarked.
"Don't you worry I won't bother you hereafter" I assured. "Don't get hussy with me if I'm correct you're trespassing in my territory" he bleated. "I said I won't now will you please leave me alone" I exclaimed. God I really wish I hadn't broken my archery bow when I was younger. It could have come in real good use.
"What's your problem? You injure my friend and then you threaten me?" I retaliated. "I don't particularly like your friend" He shrugged stuffing his palms in his jeans pocket. "I hope your reason isn't as pathetic as you are" I responded. Hunter let out a small chuckle and his fingers ran through his hair. "Looks like you've crossed over to the dark side, little red riding hood" he snickered. I rolled my eyes. He stuffed a black cigarette in his mouth and lit it with his lighter. His chest heaved as he inhaled the nicotine. He removed the cigarette from his lips and blew the vanilla flavoured smoke on my face.
I sighed and left Hunter alone near the clawed tree. His smell lingered on me. A strong mixture of vanilla, nicotine and a whole lot of cockiness.
I didn't pay attention to where I was going exactly, my only objective was to flee and do it quickly. As soon as I made sure that Hunter was no where in sight I made a brief halt and took in my surroundings. The woods had gotten thicker I knew that for sure. I had walked deeper in to the wood where the trees were covered in moss and thick vines draped each trunk like a Christmas decoration. I sighed as my palm scraped against the side of a tree. I was lost.
Instead of heading back like any other sane person. I decided to walk forward deeper in to the wood. The slope of the ground was an even a large range of deep and steep holes were in the ground and it took every force in me to climb up. How do wolves get past this.
I don't even remember seeing this? Rocks were dug deep in to the soil making it slightly easier to climb over. My feet put pressure on the hard rocks and I gripped the ones above. I pushed my self forward and tumbled over the other side. Landing on the ground with a thud. I cursed under my breath as I got back on my feet. I brushed my fingers against my cloak.
All I have to do is retrace my steps and I'll be back home. I think I've had enough of searching the fairy river. My feet ached as they pressed hard against the ground. My palms were filthy and soil had managed to slither in my nails. I scrunched up my nose looking at my nails with pure disgust. My fingers were bruised from the climbing earlier. If only I wasn't so pale.
I turned around. I'm heading home.
