JIMIN

"Boy's dinner is ready" my mother called from downstairs

I sighed and closed the book I had been attempting to read for school, without much success. I had had the worst day imaginable at school, and now I was going to have sit through dinner and hope no one asked me how my day had been. I stomped down the stairs, but halfway down I was pushed aside by my younger brother Jihyun

"Move your fat ass loser"

As I entered the kitchen he had just sat down, and my father was cuffing the back of his head.

"Don't curse"

My mother put down the last dish on the table and took her seat. It smelt amazing and I hadn't eaten all day.

"You were late home again this afternoon Jimin, did dance practice go late again?" my mother asked

"A little yes"

I heard my father give a soft snort of contempt at the mention of my dance practice. He hated me dancing, and thought it was a waste of my time. But dancing was the one thing in the wold that made me feel free, and good, and happy and I wasn't going to give that up.

"How did you go with that assignment you were working on?" she asked

"Not bad I got a B- "

"What kind of grade is that?" My father burst out "B- ! You need to quit jumping around like a girl in tights, and concentrate on your studies. You should be more like your brother here, never had a grade under A-" and he smiled proudly at Jihyun

"Everybody eat" my mother was always trying to be the peacemaker

"Jihyun knows exactly what he wants to do when he leaves school, and he's younger than you"

"I know what I want to do" I said under my breath, but he heard me

"What? Prancing about on a stage is not a career choice "

"Especially with his fat ass and chipmunk face" Jihyun put in

"Don't curse" my father cuffed him again, and I shot him a dirty look. My mother tried to intervene again

"He's only fifteen years old, plenty of time to decide. Now everybody eat "

"Can I please be excused?" I couldn't sit there anymore

"You haven't eaten a thing" my mother looked concerned

"Not hungry and I have homework"

"OK. I'll put it away in case you want it later"

"Thanks mum" and I got up and went back to my room.

This was my life, bullied at school because I danced, bullied at home because I danced, bullied by my dance teacher because I couldn't lose weight. It was just a never-ending cycle of shit, and I hated it. I tried to lose weight, I really did, but I could never keep to a diet and once I started eating I couldn't seem to stop. I had only ever found one really successful way, and that was not to eat at all. I sighed and got ready for bed, ready to sleep, so I could wake up in the morning and repeat it, all over again.

JHOPE

I felt the pain shoot through my knee and down my leg again, I needed to take some more medication, but I had only taken some an hour ago, and the bottle was in my locker. I would have to wait until after class.

"PPSSSTTT Hoesok?" my best friend Youngjin leaned towards me while the teachers back was turned

"Are you coming at lunch time?"

"Of course, wouldn't miss it"

My friends had decided that hanging around school for lunch was lame, so we were planning to sneak out of the school grounds and go have lunch at a café in town. There was no way we would get in trouble even if we got caught. I was kind of a big deal around my school, even though I was only sixteen. My Great Grandfather had founded a multimillion dollar business, and my Grandfather had turned it into a multibillion dollar business, and my father had sold it all lock, stock and barrel, and had never done a day's work in his life. Mostly he spends his time with my mother, travelling and enjoying himself. They had an arranged marriage, and it wasn't a particularly happy one, when she was home my mother pretty much just 'did lunch' or charity events, and drank herself stupid until she passed out. My sister Jiwoo and I were pretty much raised by nannies. We had anything we wanted, except our parent's time and attention.

As soon as the bell went for lunch I headed straight to my locker and downed a couple of pain killers, and waited for the feeling of relief to wash over me. By the time I met up with my friends at the school gates I was feeling much better, and floated happily along with them into town. We attended one of the most exclusive schools in Korea, and I know my parents paid a fortune for my sister and I to attend, and the café we were going to wasn't far away. Once we arrived we all took a seat, and I looked around. I could see a couple of other tables with kids from our school who had all had the same idea, but they were a little older than us.

"Yo Heosok, check this out" Youngjin handed me a flyer he had picked up from the table in front of him. It was an information sheet and registration form for a dance competition the café was holding in a few weeks. I loved to dance, and was pretty good at it. There was a small amount of prize money on offer, but what really caught me attention was the fact that the winner got a chance to audition for S.M. Entertainment, and be taken on as a trainee. It got me pretty excited, but I tried to act cool and casual about it in front of my friends.

"Are you going to enter?" Youngjin asked me

"Maybe if I have nothing else on" I said as casually as I could even though I was inwardly screaming.

"Hi Hoesok" It was a girl from one of the other tables. I had seen her around school, and knew she was a year older than me, but I didn't know her name. it didn't matter, I was always getting girls come over and say hi to me. As I said, I was kind of a big deal around my school. But it wasn't me they liked, I was pretty sure it was all about the money.

"Um...Hi...And you are?"

"Soojung"

"Right. Hey" she was very pretty, but I was still trying to maintain my cool guy doesn't give a shit persona, so I just went back to reading the flyer

"Are you entering that? "she asked me

"Maybe"

"You should, I've seen you dance you're really good"

"Yeah thanks" I continued to ignore her

"Well see you around" she finally got the hint and walked away

Once we ate we got up to go back to school, and I made sure I pocketed that flyer. Who knew, maybe it was my ticket out of here, and the start of a whole new adventure. Life was so boring, I just wanted some excitement and fun.
