Chapter 30: The trail of blood

~•~

"Yes Serena we are otherwise she'll be called out for being somewhere she's not." Graham Montague argued as the former couple found themselves before the Slytherin portrait.

"Why are you so defensive of her?"

"Why aren't you? She's going though hell and back Renea, think about it. She doesn't deserve the shit she's getting."

Serena rolled her eyes, "This is because of last night isn't it? Is she really that good?"

"You'd have to ask Draco that – Pure Blood – Because I wouldn't know, we didn't sleep together."

Graham waited for Serena to step though the wall and into the common room before he followed her, the usual hissing whispers of students completely discarded as they walked into a blood bath. Students were shouting at one another while others laid back and watched.

It was only when they moved past all the star stuck first and second years did they realise it was their year group fighting, Serena leaned down to a blonde second year girl and caught her attention, "Can you do me a favour?" She asked, her eyes constantly flickering from the ticking muscle in Draco's jaw to the girl who stood there with wide eyes.

She nodded frantically with her lips parted, "Go get Professor Snape." And with that the second year ran off.

The tension in the room grew as Draco stood up from his position on the couch and walked over to Theo who was defending Blaise as Alexis moved over to Pansy Parkinson, who sat there in the chaos smirking. Serena turned to her ex boyfriend, "What would Olivia do?"

Graham laughed, "Well I know one thing for sure."

"What's that smart arse?"

"Smack that grin of Parkinson's face. Then she'd tell them three idiots to pack it in."

Just as Draco was about to advance on Blaise the two jumped in separating them, "Oi you tossers, knock it off." Serena scolded, pointing a finger at both of them.

Pansy sighed from her place on the couch, "Just as it was about to get good."

Serena threw the girl a dirty look, "Because you'd love that wouldn't you Pug-face?"

"Not helping Serena." Graham scolded quietly, whispering in her ear before shouting out to the group, "Look, will you shitheads behave? You're fighting for shite all and you'd know that if you–" He pointed in Draco's direction, "–and you two–" He said motioning to Serena and Alexis, "–actually listened to what Olivia had to say without shouting in her face. Now she's on her way to the hospital wing."

"Why's she going to the hospital wing? What happened?" Draco asked.

"You tell me." Graham fired, watching as a mixed feeling of guilt and worry flashed over Draco's face.

There was an eerie silence as everyone looked to one another until Pansy stood up and sighed, "Someone just had to ruin the fun didn't they?" She mused, walking over to Graham.

He scoffed bitterly, "News flash Parkinson, no one sees this as fun."

"You're smarter than what you're credited for Montague." She mused, "Maybe I should of just accused Theo instead of you."

But it was Serena who caught on first, "You mean–?"

"–it was you?!" Alexis shouted.

Serena lifted her wand, "Why you little – I'm going to kill you!"
