Chapter 48: The aftermath of death

Olivia's head snapped up when she heard the compartment door thud, she rose silently from her seat along with Draco next to her as the two stared at the door in concentration.

What they both had found as equally strange was that no one had made their presence known after the door closed. Yes they were witches and wizards and lived practicing magic but there was no way in hell this was in fact magic, for someone had snuck into the Slytherin compartment and Olivia could bet one hundred galleons on who it could be.

In a second the compartment fell into darkness as Olivia found she couldn't see anything, attempting to find her seat to grab onto she found herself being pushed around before onto someone as the cloud of darkness disappeared slowly. She knew it was one of the twins' products, Peruvian Instant Darkness Powder to be precise.

Once the powders effects had cleared up she found herself in an awkward situation as the person she'd been pushed onto was Draco, the two made brief eye contact before moving away without a word. Olivia went to sit down as she noticed movement up on the shelf where their luggage was stored, Harry was smart she'd give him that but she was almost certain Draco knew he was there as his eyes too cast upwards.

"Come Draco, sit down. We'll be at Hogwarts soon." Pansy encouraged grabbing the boy's hand as Olivia pushed a hand through her hair, dropping her head back on her seat.

"Hogwarts, what a pathetic excuse for a school. Think I'd pinch myself off the Astronomy tower if I thought I'd have to continue for another two years." She heard Draco sneer, causing her to move about in her chair as she positioned herself to speak to Blaise who sat on Draco's table.

"What's that supposed to mean?" Pansy asked.

"Let's just say I don't think I see me wasting my time in Charms class next year." Draco said, a scowl on his face as Blaise sniggered. "Amused Blaise? We'll see just who's laughing in the end."

Blaise turned to Olivia as he noticed her trying to listen discreetly, "What about you Liv?"

Olivia turned to fully face Blaise as Draco and Pansy looked to her for her answer, "Honestly–?" She chewed on her lip unsure of what to say before sighing, "If any Death Eater found me outside of Hogwarts I reckon I wouldn't have chance to get my wand out. The rate we're going there's a fat chance I'll be in Hogwarts next year. Theodore has more chance of becoming Minster of Magic than me finishing my seventh year."

Theo let out a defensive 'Hey' as Draco's eyes cast to the ground as the mention of Death Eaters. Serena leant forwards on the table, joining in the conversation, "What do you mean?"

"I have no idea where I'll be next year." She admitted, shrugging her shoulders as an uneasy feeling crept up inside her.

When the train pulled into Hogsmeade station it was dark out and Olivia was somewhat excited to get back to the castle and back into the routine of normality.

She was the last one to leave the compartment along with Blaise, she noticed Draco was still seated as turned with Blaise to see what he was doing.

"You two go on, I wanna check something."

The best friends gave each other a weary look before Olivia turned to Draco again, she didn't like the sound of the situation. It screamed sketchy in various different ways but Olivia complied regardless, not wanting to start a fight with the boy. They moved out of the compartment, catching Ron and Hermione when they too emerged from the train. She gave them a small smile of comfort before heading towards the carriages with Blaise.
