Chapter 49: A change in attitude
The loud chatter and smell of fresh breakfast filled the Great Hall the next morning. It was the official start of the school term and the students in the castle were struggling to keep their eyes open at the breakfast table, most of them unused to waking at such an hour.
Over by the Slytherin table most of them sat brooding, questioning their existence and why an education was necessary at that moment in time. Seated next to Olivia was Serena who at that given moment was cursing her life under her breath.
Blaise Zabini, also known as the 'morning person', sat down with a grin on his face, resting his arm over his girlfriend's shoulders. Alexis turned to her tanned boyfriend and gave him a silent look, everyone who knew the girl knew she was asking him why he was so energetic at the given time in the morning.
"Why do you look like you just kicked the shit out of first year Gryffindor?" Olivia asked sceptically, pushing her half eaten plate of food away.
Blaise shrugged his shoulders, "No reason."
"Please don't tell me you just kicked the shit out of a first year Gryffindor." Olivia begged, sighing when the boy's face didn't alter, "Fuck sake Blaise." She groaned, moving to stand up but stopped when she was pushed back down by her shoulders.
Looking up she saw Theodore Nott stood above her, he too wore the same expression Blaise did. He gave her a sly wink before slipping into the seat next to her at the same time Graham Montague joined them also. Serena and Olivia looked at the three boys carefully before back to each other, knowing something was up.
"What the hell have you guys done this time?"
Montague put his hand to his heart dramatically, "Why would you just assume it was us?"
The girl swatted the boys arm away, rolling her eyes for added effect, whether it was flirting or not Olivia wasn't sure, "It's always you."
In their own conversation Blaise and Alexis sat whispering, their faces inches apart before they shared a kiss at the table, Olivia and Theo gagged as Serena and Montague too started flirting awfully cringey.
"I swear to Salazar some people need to get a fucking room." Said Olivia loudly, emphasising 'some people'. She was completely unaware that a few seats down Pansy and Draco were also sat snogging and them too had heard the girl's dig at the couples, pulling away.
"Or maybe you should remove yourself from the room." Pansy quipped up the table.
Heads turned to Olivia to watch for her reaction, it took her a few seconds to do anything as for a short while she stared blankly at the girl, narrowing her eyes before she moved to stand up yet again, only to have Theo and Serena pull her back down by her robes.
Pansy let out an obnoxious laugh as the two Slytherins restrained the black haired girl. Olivia shook them off, muttering profanities under her breath as she straightened herself out, "I'll stab her eyes out with my quill if she carry's on." She said loudly, fully expecting for the girl to hear her and shut up.
"When did you get so violent?" Blaise asked.
"When some tosser decided it'd be a good idea to try and make me a Death Eater." She snapped, fully aware of her temper and blamed it on the lack of sleep from the previous nights.
Before Blaise could reply a scroll of parchment had been dropped in front of Olivia as she turned to see Professor Snape stood behind her, "If I were you Black I'd refrain from threatening students in the presence of Staff..." He warned, "...My office before your classes start, I'd like a word." She gave her Professor a deadpan look as he swished off.
