Chapter 44: Marks in our skin

After reuniting with her favourite twins having not seen each other since they raided an OWL exam two months ago Olivia was finally starting to feel warmer on the inside.

Not like Charlie hadn't made her feel welcome and at home but the girl felt like she could let her hair down with the twins, tell them everything and know no matter the situation they'd always manage to get a laugh out of her.

A week or so into her stay in their flat the two Weasley twins had experienced their first sleepless night due to one of Olivia's nightmares. Unaware of what to do at first they simply comforted her until she decided she was ready to do or say anything. By then it was well into the early morning and one of Olivia's breakdowns had closely followed.

It was always after a nightmare where Olivia felt most vulnerable and exposed. The guilt, the sorrow and the pain would come hitting down like a tonne of bricks and all she could do was cry until she was left with no more tears.

Upon her arrival the twins had instantly recognised the change in Olivia's whole persona, she wasn't as happy or bubbly but more distant – something that came with the Dark Lord's attempt in recruiting her. They found her more rough around the edges, damaged from the trauma she'd experienced in one night. However she was working on trying to become herself again but at times she felt such darkness she'd never felt before, often bringing her to wonder if it was what Harry had previously felt.

The morning after her breakdown Fred was awake first after listening to Olivia pour her heart out until the early hours of the morning. He left his brother on the living room floor while Olivia occupied the couch, both still sleeping.

A familiar crack in the small flat sounded causing Fred to pick up his coffee and walk to the sound. He found his mother looking extremely flustered as she rushed around causing George and Olivia to wake up.

"Oh for Merlin's sake George get off the floor!" The woman cried as she ran over to his twin.

"They're coming."

"Who Death Eaters?" Fred asked, automatically assuming the worst by her mothers state.

"No not Death Eaters! Ron, Ginny and Hermione they're coming here to see you and George."

"They can't mum, incase you hadn't noticed Olivia's sleeping on our couch."

"I know but they insisted, should be here any mi–"

Molly Weasley was cut off by the sound of her younger children bursting though the shop door downstairs, George groaned from the floor as he threw his hand to his head, "Why did we give them a bloody key?"

With the three rushing up the stairs Olivia awoke in a confused state as Fred quickly threw her over his shoulder.

"Don't say a word." He hissed quickly as he watched her open her mouth to protest.

"What are y–"

"Shhh!" He scolded again dropping her in his room and shutting the door behind him, "Ron, Ginny and Hermione just showed up! Had to get you out of there."

"You could of told me before you flung me over your shoulder you git!" Olivia whisper shouted, hitting the older boy's arm as he recoiled.

"Less of the violence please, now until they leave feel free to go back to sleep."

Olivia stuck her tongue out at the boy, "I was going to anyways."

Fred pulled a face at her which she returned, the two then continued pulling stupid faces at each other until a rather annoyed George shouted for his twin. Leaving Olivia alone in his room, Fred closed the door as the girl climbed under his covers and closed her still stinging eyes.
