It was just a nightmare.

Water flowed over me. It started with small waves brushing against my feet then grew and grew until I was stood in a pool of water up to my waist. My heart beat increased and began beating rapidly against my chest. The water continued to rise but I couldn’t move. My feet were stuck in place.

“No! Help! Please, please!” I yelled at the top of my lungs. What if no one heard me or decided to come? I needed out of here and now. The waves continued to swirl and grow.

My hands fumbled around trying to find something to hold onto while my feet frantically kicked but as they were stuck it was just a continuous cycle of knee bending and body thrashing.

That was when I fell under. My breath pushed from inside my lungs as a scream then a gurgle. Now I was choking. I kept fighting until my head pounded, every cell in my body screaming for oxygen.

“Alec?” A small voice asked. At first I thought I was imagining it. Was I dead yet? “Alexander sweetie?” It continued. Then I realised who it was. Magnus was here but how could he speak under the water?

I gasped and awoke quickly. My head was still pounding and my heart stammered. Streaks of sunlight penetrated the curtain and blinded me. My palms were coated in a layer of sweat and my body was stuck to the soft sheets of the bed.

“Sweetie it was just a nightmare.” Magnus reminded me, his eyes were trained upon mine but they glistened with worry. I responded with a sigh and feel back down against the pillow. His mouth twitched and I was pretty sure he was holding back a smile.

Instead of questioning what was funny I went for a simple morning greeting.

“Good morning.” The words sounded foreign in my mouth. I was always the one who was awake first and when Magnus did get up it wasn’t usually until Midday so saying ‘good morning’ wasn’t necessary.

His hands pulled me back into a sitting position then his arms held me close. His embrace was warm, and his big, strong arms seemed very protective when wrapped around my vulnerable body.  The world around me melted away as I squeezed him back, not wanting the moment to end.

My nightmare was forgotten, pushed into the darkest realms of my mind to not be seen for a while. When he reluctantly pulled away I hesitantly watched him. The swirls of emotion I saw in his every feature made my cheeks flush a dark red. Lust and desire.

However, before I could ponder or question it he yanked me closer and covered my mouth with his in an urgent kiss. As our lips crushed together, I felt like I was walking on air. It was magic the way our lips fit perfectly together and we seemed to connect in every imaginable way.

“I made breakfast.” He murmured as the kiss ended. Every time his lips moved they brushed against my own sending a warm chill over me.

“But you can thank me later for it.” Magnus added with a wink.
