My palms were sweating and my breathing quick and almost gaspy. Panic radiated through the entirety of my body. Jace smirked at me. No wonder why with what Isabelle had forced me to wear.

I was in a suit. But it wasn’t a simple smart shoes and blazer suit, oh no. She had me wearing a tie, a shirt and cufflinks too. She had noticed my breathing and rolled her eyes.

“Oh come one Alec, you look great! Magnus will love you!” She seemed enthusiastic but it didn’t help. Tonight would be our first date.

“Are-are you sure?” I asked, my voice quivered with anticipation and fear. Of course I wasn’t afraid of Magnus but suits were not my thing in the slightest. A loud yet gentle tapping noise came from downstairs.

“That’s the door!” Izzy exclaimed and ran down. She seemed to grow more excited by the minute. I didn’t understand why she would be excited for me though. Apart from maybe the fact this would be not only my first date with Magnus but my first date with anyone. It was nerve racking.

She left me and Jace to go down and open the door. Jace was laid back on Izzy’s bed with a seraph blade in his hands, his agile fingers running down the edges. The small sound of greetings being exchanged came from the door way. My shaky hands moved to my collar, I ruffled it a little then did the same to my hair.

“I’m not sure Isabelle will let you do that.” Jace said his eyes still upon the blade. I sighed and knew it was right, as soon as I was back in her sight she would sort it out for me.

“Is this too much?” I asked.

“Just make sure he doesn’t do any juju on you okay?” Jace mocked but it sounded more like a warning. Isabelle burst in through the doors and looped her arm with mine.

It was a mere few moments before she had practically dragged me down to Magnus. His beauty, as always, overwhelmed me but the sight of his face also calmed me too. My heart beat however didn’t steady in the slightest.

“You look Gorgeous sweetie.” Magnus complimented me, making my cheeks blush a deep pink. He looked at Isabelle with wide eyes, he must have guessed she’s dressed me. “How did you get him to wear a tie?” He asked as she let go of my arm. It was replaced my Magnus but instead of holding my arm, he held my hand.

“By the Angel it wasn’t easy.” She inhaled then watched us share quick glances at each other, trying to be subtle wasn’t working.

“Thank you, but we best be going.”

The restaurant was beautiful. I was stuck for words. Could Mundanes every produce this beauty or was this place run by the supernatural? I wasn’t sure but Magnus assured me it would all be magnificent.

The glow of candles that lit up our table danced gently and the music in the background only added to atmosphere. His eyes were on mine, I could feel them but it was hard to draw my gaze from the room. Every small detail looked as if it had been sculpted and planned by the Angel himself.

“Do you like it?” My warlock asked, his lips turned up into a small yet loving smile. I nodded unable to speak. As I grew accustomed to the beauty I finally could look at him and smile back although words still escaped me.

My heart was racing and the moisture on my palms returned. What if I said the wrong thing and ruined it all? I tried to hide my nervousness but it was pretty clear. It may have as well been written on my forehead.

“Alec honey, just breathe.” He reminded me, and it helped.  Slowly but surely the panic dissipated into the air. The waitress came over, her formal dress was impeccable, she handed us menus and brought a glass of champagne each.

The liquid bubbled in my mouth and the flavour ignited my senses making everything seem brighter, hotter, louder. I took another sip before setting the drink down. I kept the liquid in my mouth and smiled as the bubbles slipped down my throat.

We had ordered different starters, it was Magnus’ idea. He thought it would be nice to taste each other’s and in his words ‘stare into each other’s eyes as we do.’ I wasn’t sure whether he was joking or not but as the waiter brought over a tray with both the soup and the grapes coated in cheese. I tried the soup first. It burnt my tongue and hid it’s true flavour but I guessed it was nice as Magnus nodded his head in approval. Then I tried the grapes. The sweetness counteracted the strange texture of them both together but it was as he had promised magnificent.

“Now look at me.” He whispered. I didn’t even mean to but our eyes found each other’s and held a gaze. His glamour occasionally slipped, letting me see his real eyes; his cat eyes. They were beautiful and unique. I loved them.

He was lost in my eyes and part of me wondered where he had gone too but it made my heart stammer knowing he could find somewhere else by looking at me. I hoped it was somewhere nice.

The conversation between us started to flow from that moment and it real almost natural to be around him. I couldn’t help but feel myself falling deeper and deeper in love with this man.

Jace was right, it felt like he was a fairy tale character and I was in a trance, a spell that made me love him more and more with each passing second but it was too real to be imaginary.

His hand reached out and held mine across the table. I was yet again left without words.

“I find that cute, you being speechless.”

My lips parted to attempt a reply but words failed me. I was utterly in love with this man. There was no denying it.
