On January 1, 2018, my life took a maddening turn. People say you will do anything for love. Anything can cover a wide base of possibilities. Some may make you appear to be the ultimate hero in the end... and some well, some may ruin you for life forever. The question is, would it matter to you either way if it was a sacrifice? No. It would not.
Once again time seemed to be a part of my life I couldn't avoid. Good times, bad times, and especially hard times. When I was younger, I wasn't born with the same leveled-headed mind as Mary Lou. It took me quite a few life lessons and hardships to become what some people may call "wiser".
I had let my heart get in the way of not one but two men. Harley and James. Both were and still are beautiful beyond comparison. Both gave me memories that would forever be a part of my soul. Their flaws, no matter how big or how small meant nothing to me because I trusted them and loved them unconditionally. Including the lives they lived and the constant emotional battle, they put upon me. As you can see, they had their charm and wits, but they also had deep, dark secrets. Harley hid them quite well from me. Especially the history of my fake mother and his father having an affair. James hid his family history from me as well. I would have never guessed he was a part of a mafia gang.
Mary Lou was the same. Her beauty was as rare as a diamond in the ruff. It was rare to find a human being that could have beauty from within as well as the outside. She was intelligent, a talented artist, and a spitfire if she didn't get her way. I used to joke it was her red hair shining through her personality.
The difference between my love for James, Harley, and Mary Lou... James and Harley were men, and Mary Lou was my daughter. My daughter that someone was dumb enough to take after everything I had already painfully endured.

I shoved Harley to the bottom of the shower and fumbled carelessly to the floor. Dragging my body forward, I crawled out of the tub on my knees. I pulled myself up by the corner of the sink using every bit of strength I could find.
"Liana! Don't! You will hurt yourself!" Harley said as he attempted to pull himself up from the bottom of the bathtub.
I whipped my head around and screamed at the top of my lungs, "They have Mary Lou!"
