Chapter Fifteen

I woke up, my eyes opening to see Daniel. He was still asleep, but he was smiling softly. I was so, so grateful for him. He had been there for me through everything that had happened, and I didn't want to leave his side.

I was still wearing his jumper, which brought a smile to my face. I turned slightly, laying on my back, when I heard a shuffling from the bed beside me.

"Tea?" The voice whispered, and I turned my head to see Ellie looking at me.

"Ellie!" I whispered, my voice lighting up. That's when I realised that she wasn't alone. Next to her was Jack, who was sleeping peacefully. "You brought him home?" I giggled quietly in disbelief.

Her smile was brighter than I had ever seen it before. She quietly slipped out of bed, still wearing Jack's jumper and her sweatpants. I looked over at Daniel once more.

I turned to face Ellie, but she just winked at me and entered the bathroom quietly.

I set my eyes on Daniel again, and I couldn't stop smiling. I laughed a little at how incredible this entire situation was, and how lucky I was to meet him. He moved his head slightly on the pillow, but his eyes remained closed. There were no words to describe how bad I wanted to kiss him- but I wanted to wait for the right moment. Although my mind told me this was the perfect opportunity, my heart told me to wait. And I always listened to my heart.

I bit my lip, taking one last look at Daniel before I gently slipped out of my bed, quietly walking towards the bathroom to join Ellie.

I slid the door open, stepped in, and then closed the door.

I exhaled, closing my eyes. Everything was so perfect- apart from Maria and Zach being in the car accident. I had to admit, I missed Maria's laugh, and the stupid little sarcastic comments she makes at the perfect times.

"You brought Daniel home!" Ellie asks excitedly.

"And you brought Jack home!" I reply enthusiastically.

"Didn't think you were capable of that." Ellie teases, touching up her hair in the mirror. I look at her, shocked.

"Ow." Is all I say, and we both laugh.

"How'd you guys end up here?" She asks, and then I remembered what had happened the night before.

"Your face just fell, Tea, what the hell happened?" Ellie put down her hair brush. She looked concerned.

"D-dmitri... did you lock the door when you came in last night?"

"I think so," Ellie says. "what about Dmitri? What did he do?"

"He was the one who called the ambulance." I say, my voice shaking.

"How the hell?" Ellie whisper-yells, as to not wake up the boys. "How would he know what happened?"

"I don't know." I replied shakily, and I brought a hand to my cheek, where he had slapped me the night before. "He slapped me, Daniel punched him, and he chased us down this dark flight of stairs. We asked the nurse at the counter to update us if anything good happened to Maria and Zach and then we bolted, getting in a taxi and coming here." I say.

"Wow. That's... insane." Ellie says, shaking her head.

"What about you guys?" I try to smile, wanting her to take my mind off of things.

"Well, we were partially involved in the investigation. The police asked us the same questions they probably asked you, and then they brought us down to the crime scene- the one where the car crashed. They asked us if we knew the car, or the driver. The driver was a girl around our age, and I knew I had seen her somewhere before. I don't remember where from, but I had definitely seen her face before.
