Erin's Point of View

I checked my phone- it was 6:30. I scrolled through my notifications when suddenly Scout called out, "Volleyball time!"

We all gathered towards the volleyball net, and I saw Jonah run over to the ground next to the snacks table, retrieving a volleyball.

He walked over to the serving line that had been drawn into the sand with a stick, and he served the ball perfectly.

On my team was myself, Jonah, Zach, Maria, Tea, Scout, Ingle and Ray and Ashley. On the other side was Ellie, Jack, Sarah, Daniel, Corbyn, Djay, Charlotte and Kim. The other two were sitting on the side, watching us.

After Jonah served, Jack pounded it back, and Maria- being the incredibly athletic person she was- hit the ball downwards, onto their side, in the sand.

"I just realised how uneven the teams are." Jack complains, running after the loose ball. "You guys have Jonah. And Maria. And Scout. I'm stuck with Ellie for Christ's sake." He jokes, and Ellie slaps his arm.

"Rude." She says, and they both began to laugh. Jack rolled the ball under the net, and I picked it up and passed it back to Jonah. He serves again, and the game continues.

We won in the end, but we played for ages.

This was already the best night of my life.

Maria's Point of View (partly written by Maria)

I loved volleyball, after all I was amazing at it. I've never been on a losing volleyball team before, not trying to be cocky but honesty is the best policy. I was ready to start another game, we were all waiting for Tea and Daniel, who were probably making out by the table.

I turned around to see Tea grabbing a bottle of water as Daniel began to approach her. The look on Tea's face when she turned around and saw Daniel just wasn't right. It was as if all the life had been drained from her face.

I knew something wasn't right.

Immediately I decided to walk up to the table to grab Tea.

"Hey Daniel," I said as I interrupted whatever it was that he was saying. "Um, Tea, can I borrow you quickly?"

The relief that washed over her face made it clear that she wanted nothing more than to get away from the situation with Daniel. She nodded and followed me to the side of the volleyball net where we could speak privately.

"Thank you." was all that came from her lips. She was obviously thankful to be saved from Daniel, but I couldn't bring myself to understand why anybody,- especially Tea- would need saving from Daniel. They were practically inseparable.

"What did he do? Do I have to go hurt him?" I asked in an attempt to lighten the mood.

"No, you don't." Tea giggled and smiled up at me. "I really want to tell you, but-"

Tea's Point of View

My phone began to ring at the perfect time- Maria had taken me away from the most heartbreaking situation of my life, which I was so grateful for. But she was asking why I was acting so strange about Daniel, and I knew that I wouldn't've been able to tell her.

The call was from Hannah, one of my friends from back home in Australia. My friends from back home never called me unless it was Skype, Houseparty or Facetime. Hannah was calling my phone number.

"Hey, Han, what's up?" I say, and Maria looks at me, confused.

"I can't believe I have to tell you this." She says, her voice breaking. She sounded like she was choking, and she began to sniffle. "Tea, Tea I just can't do this without you. You have to come home." Immediate worry and curiosity began to burn through my skin.

"Han, are you okay?" There was no reply, and I brought a hand to my mouth. "Hannah, what's going on? Please talk to me."

"It's Holly." I could hear her crying, and my heart immediately broke. "What happened to her?"

"She... she died." And Hannah began to cry again, and she wouldn't stop. "Please come home."

But I couldn't breathe.

I couldn't speak.

I hadn't even realised it, but I was shaking, and tears were streaming down my face. I couldn't feel anything, and the grip on my phone loosened.

This was not real. This was not happening.

Ashley's Point of View

Corbyn was smiling at me from the other side of the net, when suddenly I could hear someone crying. I turned my head to look over at Maria and Tea, Tea's head in her hands. Corbyn ran over to her immediately, and she looked up at him and hugged him.

Corbyn was such a good person, and he would do anything to help anyone. I felt like I should go and see if Tea was okay, but I knew she hated people crowding around her when she was upset. I saw Daniel running up to Tea, but Corbyn had looked up and walked over to him. I could slightly hear his conversation.

"Daniel, you can't be here. Please. For a couple of minutes."

"What do you mean I can't be here, Corbyn? She's crying, and I-"

"Daniel, please. Just trust me." Corbyn says, giving Daniel that incredibly convincing look. Corbyn always knew what he was talking about- but for once I doubted him, and so did Daniel. Why would Corbyn stop Daniel from seeing Tea? Why would he want them to be separated? Was he jealous?

"Corbyn. Get out of the way." Daniel says, and he walks away from Corbyn.

"Daniel, please!" Corbyn says, grabbing Daniel's arm.

"Let go of me." Daniel says, but before he could break free of Corbyn's grasp, Tea bolted towards the hill.

"What the hell is happening?" Ellie asks, watching Tea as she ran towards the hill.

"I feel like we should do something to help." Erin says.

"Nah, she'll be fine." Ellie shrugs, playing with the volleyball.

"E, she doesn't get upset over nothing." I point out.

"She's got a point." Erin adds on.

"If she needs something, she'll tell us." Ellie says. Maria runs over to us.

"Tea. She's going to the airport." Maria says, running over to the snack table and grabbing her stuff. "You guys keep having fun, I'll go with Tea."

"Maria, what's happened?" Erin asks.

"I'll tell you guys later. Just ignore that we're gone, please." Maria says, and she runs towards the hill. Towards the taxi ring.

Zach looks at Jonah and Jack, like he was asking them for permission, and they both nod. Soon Zach had gotten his phone and he was sprinting towards where Maria had ran.

I wanted to know so badly what had happened to Tea. Why Maria wouldn't tell us anything. Why Daniel and Tea weren't speaking. Why Corbyn was protecting Tea from Daniel, as though he was some sort of disease.
