The stage was incredible. I mean sure, I had seen it before on video - but in person it's almost indescribable. Firstly, it was in a massive stadium. On the way in, Anderson said it could sit over a two hundred thousand people. So yeah - a pretty big stadium. The stage was in the center, and there were amps all over the place. Sound systems were under each seat, so you could hear no matter where you were. Even though the show wouldn't start for another hour, the front rows were already almost full. Each row of seats were several feet above the other in a circle around the stage.
Somehow, we found two seats in the front row, with an extra chair beside them. After I sat down, Anderson grinned. "Right, well I'll go buy us some food. It's already nearly halfway through the day, and I bet you're hungry."
I nodded.
"Cool. Alright, sit here 'till I get back. I'll buy you a hamburger." The trader disappeared into the crowds, and I turned back to face the stage.
"Is this seat taken?" Came a voice from behind me.
"Huh?" I glanced to my right, a boy with spiky black hair stood there. He looked to be the same age as me. He wore a pair of grey and blue headphones, with a microphone attached to them. On his arm, he wore what looked like a large watch- so large it took up about half of his lower arm. The screen was covered in numbers and pictures, as well as waving lines I didn't understand. He wore grey and blue clothing as well - baggy pants and a shirt almost too small for him. It was an almost comedic combination.
"I take it you aren't from around here?" He said, sitting to my left, "Offworlder?"
I shook my head, "Rinju. I'm from the wild lands."
"Oh." He paused, "You're here to see Minori?"
"Yes." I replied.
"Concert starts in an hour from what I've heard." He looked down at the stage, "Probably more like forty minutes at this point." He glanced down at the device on his wrist and tapped it a few times, "What happened to your arm?"
"I was born like this." I replied, "Paralyzed in my left arm."
He changed the subject, "Wanna see something cool?"
I looked at him, "Like?"
He pressed a button on his wrist device, and all of the screens in the stadium displayed a picture of a lightning bolt.
"Did you do that?" I looked at him.
He grinned and pressed a few buttons on the wrist device, and all of the screens shut off. "People like you and me need to stick together. Offworlders and people who see things with untainted eyes." His smile vanished, "Every electronic or energy-using device in this city is monitored and controlled by one system. Every person in this city is being monitored as long as they're near something that uses an energy source - and the government is the owner of the system that controls them all. Some people, like me, have found ways to use that system to our advantage. Crime pays, after all. But that's not the real issue here..." He glanced at me, "You're new to the city, so you probably haven't noticed it yet. But things aren't as nice as you think. The Metropians don't realize it, but there is a lot of crime. The government is corrupt. This planet - when the people find out - will go through a revolution."
