Mika and I sat together in her room, my new PC was sitting on my bed beside my portable screen and stone sword.
"Alright Akaya." The witch said, folding her arms. "Mavet and Vida said that they wanted to meet you tonight, at dinner. It's only about noon right now, so we have plenty of time for you to practice magic."
I looked at my stone sword, "Alright."
She saw what I was looking at. "That won't do."
"Huh?"
She picked up my stone sword, and stretched her arm out in front of her. A pair of strange symbols appeared on the weapon, and it shattered. The symbols looked like a pentagram, but with an extra side. A hexagram?
Then, I realized what she had done. "Wait, why did you do that!?!"
"You only have one hand to fight, a stone sword is much too heavy." She frowned, "Come on, we're going to the storage tower."
I shrugged, and followed her out of the room. We made our way to the summoning floor, and followed the balcony all the way around. We went through the first door on the left side of the room. Now we were standing by another spiraling staircase, which only lead down. Mika was already heading downstairs, so I ran after her.
There were trunks everywhere, all full of various materials. An old mattress was shoved against one wall, and there was a large shelf full of books. Mika walked over to a chest in the corner, and opened it up.
Then she pulled out a huge sword, and tossed it to the ground, "Too heavy..." She pulled out a pistol, then glanced at me. "Probably too irritating to reload with one arm..." She tossed that to the side too. Finally, she pulled out what at first looked to be a single-edged sword.
The blade was one-sided, and the handle was angled slightly downwards, like that of a gun's. Over the blade, there was a large cylinder where ammo was inserted. It was attached to a bronze barrel, which ran parallel to the side of the blade that was not sharp. I had heard about this weapon before, the people in my village believed it to be one of the worst weapons you could ever obtain.
A gunblade.
Mika swished it through the air twice, "Hm, this might do. But reloading it would be a problem..."
She handed me the weapon, and I looked it over. There was a small switch on the top of the handle, and when you pressed it the ammo cylinder tilted downwards, revealing it's back. Right, so that's how you reloaded. But Mika was sure right about one thing - there was no way I could reload all six bullets with one hand.
Then, she pulled out a belt. On the belt were about eight different speed loaders, moon clips to be exact.
Mika paused, "Here, I'll put this on you."
"Uh-" I started to say.
Before I could finish, she had strapped the belt to my waist. "It's like it was made for you, just the right size and everything! But reloading it is going to be hard, even with the moon clips..."
"What if I just do this..." I pressed the button to expose the back of the ammo cylinder, and flipped the barrel of the weapon downwards. I tilted the gun up so the previous bullets fell out, and then pointed it downwards so the back of the ammo cylinder was parallel to my leg. Then, I brought the gunblade upwards. One of the moon clips on my belt fit into the ammo cylinder as I brought the weapon up. Then, I flicked my wrist so the ammo cylinder locked back into its original position. I did all of this with one hand.
