Operation Metropolis II?

We sat around the table in the summoning room. I was sitting in between Mika and Vida. JJ was sitting beside Dave. The zombie had plunked down in the seat beside the gamer, much to JJ’s surprise. The zombie was slouched in his chair, staring at nothing.

Mika had her spell book open in front of her. Irritatingly, she ignored me when I tried to talk to her. So I turned my head towards Vida and tried to strike up a conversation with her.

“So…how long have you been in Pentagram?”

She glanced at me, “Not much longer than Mika. We joined up around the same time.”

“And you weren’t opposed to fighting the government?”

“I was a kid at the time. I didn’t think much about the true purpose of this organization, I only knew that I was living the dream of many. Only in recent years has Soro begun to use as to fight off the creatures of the night.”

“And fight the government?” I supplied.

“We don’t fight it directly. That would be suicide under our current condition. But if there are rebels that need refuge, we give it to them. Which is why Chynna and her group are here.”

“Oh.” I frowned. Then, a little to my left, I saw something bright blue whiz past me. I glanced at it, distracted by the movement. Then, half a second later. The blur was in front of me.

                Vida blinked, “A dramyling?”

The creature stopped moving, and stared in my direction for a few moments. It was about a foot long, with the head of a Pleco (large algae-feeding suckerfish), and the body shape of an eel. Its scales were colored deep blue, and it had a pair of long, flowing whiskers which moved in wave-like patterns. Its eyes glowed pure icy blue. On its stomach was a glowing blue light, and glittering substance of some sort floated around the thing.

Then, it slammed into my face. I let out a startled cry and fell backwards in my seat, tipping the whole chair over. I felt the things sucker-like mouth latch onto my forehead.

I tried to pull it off, but it wouldn’t budge. I stood up, and stared at the underside of the creature. Then I looked in Mika’s direction. “THIS is a dramyling?”

“Yes. Currently it’s feeding off your extra magic.” Mika paused, “It probably snuck in a while ago, and has been waiting for a good opportunity.”

“Will it hurt me?” I asked, slightly panicked, “I can’t pull it off!”

JJ was laughing hard. “You found yourself a new friend, huh Akaya?”

                “GET IT OFF!” I complained.

Mika shrugged, “I suppose I could. But it’s kind of cute…”

I blew a sigh and set my chair upright, then sat down in it, parasitic dramyling still suctioned to my forehead. “Fine, I’ll let it stay for now.”

Vida spoke kindly, “That’s very generous of you Akaya. Dramyling are endangered on Metropolis II, on account that many magi exterminate them. I heard that after feeding off of the magic of an individual, they may become attached permanently to them.”
