gerard wore the suit under his gown, sitting awkwardly in the crowd of sweaty seventeen-to-eighteen year olds. he sighed, very tempted to pull out a cigarette and smoke it right there, in among the group of almost adults. he'd at least wanted to wear his leather jacket, and not the heavy suit one, but frank had flounced out of his room with it hung over his shoulders. he couldn't take it off of him when he looked that good.

he was getting closer to receiving his diploma, and he didn't think he was going to be this nervous. thoughts were running through his mind- his grandma's funeral, (which was the next day,) mikey and his graduation in the next two years, the boys, how he was going to live after school- it was all going to fast and he was positive he needed a cigarette. he also thought about frank. fuck, frank. his breath hitched when he realized it was only a few people away from himself, and he shuffled his feet lightly.

"c'mon, way," the teacher beckoned him into the line, and he had to force himself to no look into the audience. he really didn't want to see frank and start crying. would he start crying? was he really that emotional? he decided not to risk it.

the line began to shuffle forward, and he couldn't help but regret not trying harder at school, he regretted only ever putting effort into art and not something useful, like maths or science. but that was all over now, and he turned around to see pete two people behind him, swinging his hips to see the gown move in the wind. gerard smiled.

"gerard way!" his name was called, and his head snapped to the stage. he kept his eyes on the floor, taking one step at a time, until he was up on stage. his art teacher smiled warmly at him, handing him the certificate of graduation. he heard a loud scream, and then a "that's my baby!" and he turned, to see frank clapping wildly, with a grinning mikey at his side.

he flushed, grinning to himself as he walked offstage. he waited for pete to come offstage, and the two threw their arms over each-other's shoulders.

"holy shit," pete grinned at him, "we did it! we're outta' here!"

"yeah, we did," gerard replied softly, watching as frank ran towards him. he tackled the taller boy into a hug, accidentally throwing pete off to the side.

"i'm so proud of you!" he squealed, and gerard laughed.

"ya' can throw my cap for me, if ya' want," he smirked, and frank took it, pressing a kiss to gerard's chapped lips. gerard kissed him back roughly, gripping his hips tightly. frank giggled into his mouth, pulling away and beaming at gerard. the taller boy admired the sparkle in his eyes. "ya' the prettiest boy, frankie, i swear to god," he murmured, and frank grinned, kissing him softly.

"can you two stop making out? i wanna go have dinner," mikey complained, pete's arm wound tightly around his waist. he tried to hide the smile that was blossoming, but he couldn't, pete pressing light kisses to his collarbones.

"yeah, yeah," frank giggled, watching as all the graduates threw their caps into the air. pete and frank threw them a minute too late, but still enjoyed it nonetheless. gerard couldn't help the lovesick look on his face anymore- frank wouldn't stop giggling and smiling, and that was the most precious thing he'd ever seen.

gerard tugged the gown up and over his head, and frank smirked at the sight of him in his suit. gerard grinned back, watching frank flush under his gaze.

"c'mon," mikey whined, dragging pete away, and beckoning for the other two to follow.

"don't be a drag, mikey mikes," pete said, kissing his cheek. "they're just havin' fun."

"yeah but that's my brother- it's gross," mikey wrinkled his nose, and pete laughed.

"chill out, babe," he said, pulling mikey into his side. mikey once again tried to hide his smile, but couldn't.

frank was cuddled into gerard's side too, inhaling the scent of oil and grease and gerard. "i'm really proud of you," he murmured, and gerard kissed the top of his head.

"thank ya', sugar," he breathed.
