Chapter 3

{Elsa's P.O.V}

Is Hiccup perhaps...

...interested in Merida?

I couldn't help but repeatedly ask myself ridiculous questions as I stared at Hiccup.

Now, I'm no eavesdropper.

I just happen to hear some things I shouldn't-- sometimes even see things I shouldn't.

Believe me when I say this; but sometimes it's not my fault when I accidentally hear things said by others.

"So you came from Scotland?"

Hiccup's voice.

"Ye! Got a problem with it?"

That Scottish accent could be recognized from even miles away.

"No, of course not. Maybe you could tell me a few things about Scotland sometime?"

"Ai? S-sure thing. We could meet in the library later on, too, if that suits your buds."

And then I looked over, which I wish I hadn't done.

Because if I hadn't, then my heart strings wouldn't be as pulled as they are now.

"Sure. It's a date," Hiccup said, smiling.

His smile.

Oh no, his smile.

"What?! W-well... 'righty then..." Merida blushed slightly, brushing her hair behind one ear.

Wait.

Merida?! Brushing her hair back?! And did she really just accept a date?!

She... does she... have a crush on him?

I mean- It's obvious why any girl would. Do I even stand a chance against her?

Wait, what am I thinking?! Do I have a crush on him, too...? Already?

Way to go, Elsa. You've got a crush on someone and school has just begun.

"So... you like Hiccup?"

Someone suddenly broke my train of thought. I looked beside me, only to see the white haired guy named Jack.

Wha- OH NO! He already knows...?!

I felt embarassed, and could tell I was blushing as I kept silent.

"I knew it... Well, you should be a little discrete about it. Staring at him all the time will make it obvious to even frogs," he said as he smiled mischievously.

He... he noticed I had been staring at him?!

     I blushed even more.

"Now, listen carefully... I'll help you."

Help... me...?

"Because I'm such a 'nice guy', I'll help you get together with Hiccup, alright?"

Can I really believe him? I mean, I just met the guy. This Jack...

"Why should I trust you?" I blurted out.

I covered my mouth in surprise.

Stupid Elsa! Why did I say what I was thinking out loud?!

It seemed he was also surprised, because for a moment-- his cocky expression disappeared.

"Well well well... what do we have here? The stray cat is finally accepting the milk..." he said.

'The stray cat'? What is he saying?

"Why should you trust me? I'm Hiccup's best friend. I've practically known the guy for seven years. You can't get any closer than that. It also gives you an advantage since I know the most about him," he said confidently.

Right, right, and... right. Everything he said was true.

"Come on... if you say no, I won't help you if you ask me later... even if you say you'll be my slave," he smirked.

Wha- how dare he?! I would never stoop so low as to be a slave! At the same time, what other choice do I have? I mean... this guy really could help me.

After thinking it over many times in my head, I nodded.

"Perfect!" Jack held up his hand. I looked down at mine, and unsurely raised my hand slowly.

He didn't hesitate to grab it, and shook my hand ferociously. He laughed as I instantly withdrew my hand, rubbing it as it was turning red. Somehow, though he shook it so hard, the way he held my hand was gentle.
