Chapter 18
{Hiccup's P.O.V.}
"Perfect! Well done me boy!" My dad said proudly, his scottish accent strong.
Not only was it the second day of my dad teaching me how to drive, but it was also the first day of my part-time job at Tarzan Mall.
As I unlocked and opened the door, my dad did the same. When we were both out, he walked over to the driver's side.
"Righty, we'll continue the training tomorrow and I'll pick ye up later! See ya boy!!!" He said loudly, his voice echoing throughout the parking area.
I nodded, waved, and walked away to the entrance of the mall.
As I entered, the mall was packed with buzzing people- as always.
I made my way to the food court where my part-time job was. Believe it or not, sushi stalls have a very reasonable pay.
But... as I continued to walk, my mind kept wandering and thinking about what to do the next time I see Elsa.
I know, I made a stupid mistake... and it probably seems even more stupid trying to patch things up with her... but I don't want to just give up after knowing there's a chance that Jack might actually take her.
"Ah- Jack??? Jaaack???"
I heard a familiar voice.
"Elsa...?" I thought. "No... it's probably just someone else calling for a different Jack..."
"I found something!!!" I heard the voice say once more.
I shook my head.
"Come on, Hiccup. No need to think about Elsa right now... just focus on your job and-
...then there she was.
Standing in the middle of a store, holding what seemed to be... men's clothes, was Elsa.
I bet everyone around me was wondering what was wrong with me at that moment, since I'm sure I was frozen on the spot.
At the spur of the moment, I did what I obviously do best;
...make things awkward.
I, for some darn reason, put my hands over her eyes like we were some cheesy couple.
"J-Jack...?" She guessed quietly.
I really didn't know what I was expecting there.
I obviously didn't expect her to instantly guess and yelp Hiccup... well... a part of me probably did- but I didn't exactly expect her to guess Jack either... maybe I wanted her to just plainly ask who it was who slipped their hands on top of her eyes.
After a few seconds, I began to talk.
"Uh... I'm sorry, I shouldn't have done that... but I didn't stalk you or anything if that's what you're thinking. I was actually on my way to get some things- but that doesn't matter right now..." Way to tell the truth, Hiccup. "...I was wondering if we could talk. I mean, since we're both here... is that alright...?" I asked her.
Ten seconds passed and she didn't say a word... another ten passed... then another ten... and then another.
"Maybe her silence meant a yes...?" I thought.
I then reached for her hand, to lead her to a nearby bench...
...but just as our fingers were barely a few centimeters apart- someone pulled her back.
It was Jack,
"Whoa there, buddy- she didn't even answer yet." Jack said.
Being his friend- best friend for seven years, the threat in his voice was like a loud scream in a library.
I looked at him. Maybe even glared at him. I don't even know anymore. I just know that we were, internally, talking to each other in some way only the both of us could understand.
"Stalking now, eh? How far will you go? All the way to her house?" Jack said, like someone who was teasing their bestfriend about someone... but in reality, I knew Jack was serious saying this.
"I-it's not like that..." Elsa then spoke, stuttering quietly as always.
"...he s-said he was just getting some things and happened to see me, I-I guess..."
Thank you, Elsa.
I said inside.
"Oh really, now..." Jack scanned me from head-to-toe, and it was like I knew what he was about to say before he even said it,
"...if he really was just getting some things, then why is he wearing the uniform to 'Fishes in Dishes'?" He said, his smirk rising onto his face as if he had already won.
Elsa looked up at me, pretty confused.
"I, well, you know... I was able to snag a part-time job... and I really did need to get some things, and just decided to get them on my way to work." I managed to save myself just a little.
The smirk on Jack's face slowly began to die down.
"Well then, run along now. You might become late!" Jack shooed me away, and began to drag the confused Elsa deeper into the store.
Why, this Jack-
"Elsa!!!" I called out.
She, thankfully, turned her head at me.
"I need to talk to you!!! Let's talk a little later on, okay???" My voice grew louder and louder as she continued to be pulled in.
I'm sure she was about to nod, but Jack just said something to her- which instantly blew her attention away from me.
When I couldn't see them anymore, I sighed, slipping the "Fishes in Dishes" cap onto my head, and then heading to work.
Of course, as I made california rolls and made small swirls of wasabi- Elsa, and a little bit of Jack, kept occupying my mind.
(Author's Message)
Only God knows hows busy I was...
Choosing a highschool, auditions, portfolios, homework, online applications, deadlines, a movie trailer, a video game (that I had to design, but not actually create), and much. Much. More.
And of course, only God knows how many readers and followers I've lost.
I'm honestly, sincerely, and dearly sorry.
Go ahead, unfollow me, go rage, go ham... I'm sorry for the 3-month delay.
Thank you for putting up with me. For being patient. For waiting.
I'm sorry once again for taking so very long.
See ya.
