Chapter 4

{Jack's P.O.V}

177... 178... 179... 180. It's been three minutes, and she's still staring at him.

"So... you like Hiccup?" I asked, wanting to break the silence.

She whipped her head towards me-- eyes wide and cheeks flushed red, but still silent.

Looks like I hit the mark.

"I knew it... Well, you should be a little discrete about it. Staring at him all the time will make it obvious to even frogs," I had to contain my laughter seeing her get even more red.

"Now, listen carefully... I'll help you," I whispered to her.

Still no reply... jeez, would it kill you to be a little social every now and then?

"Because I'm such a 'nice guy', I'll help you get together with Hiccup, alright?" I whispered to her again.

Damn... she's not saying anything. I was so sure she'd accept, but it looks like-

"Why should I trust you?" she suddenly blurted out.

Woah... that caught me off guard...

...but then that means she's thinking about my offer!

She covered her mouth... I guess she didn't expect herself to say that.

This is getting fun...

"Well well well... what do we have here? The stray cat is finally accepting the milk..." I said.

"Why should you trust me? I'm Hiccup's best friend. I've practically known the guy for seven years. You can't get any closer than that. It also gives you an advantage since I know the most about him," I replied to her question, a hundred percent confident now that she'll accept my offer.

"Come on... if you say no, I won't help you if you ask me later... even if you say you'll be my slave," I said, smiling now. It's just so easy to tease her.

After a while and some deep thinking, she nodded.

"Perfect!" I held up my hand.

Shaking hands is like accepting a deal... Elsa should at least know a simple action like that, right?

She then hesitantly raised her hand.

Phew... but could she raise her hand any slower?

In attempt to wait for her hand, I ended up staring at it.

Her skin is actually really pale, and the frame of her hand is so small and bony... does she eat alright? It looks like the smallest touch could break her.

After an eternity, I just decided to grab her hand. I shook it enthusiastically, like a newbie businessman whose just made a good deal with a famous client.

She instantly withdrew her hand, rubbing it as if it was in pain.

        Don't tell me...

Ah... I was right. Though I made an effort to shake her hand with as less force as possible, it's already turning red.

        She seems so... fragile.

"Okay then. Let's start now," I said.

She looked at me wide eyed as if saying: "What?! Already?!"

Hey... it seems that I'm finally getting to understand her even if she isn't talking.

"Oh come on... I'm sure you've already noticed he's been moving quite fast with Merida, right? This just means we've got to work at the same pace," she looked at Hiccup and Merida, then back at me, and nodded.

"S-so... what do we do first?" she managed to get the words out.

Just hearing how quiet her voice is can tell you that she's not use to communicating with others. It kind of makes me feel special that she's actually trying to talk to me...

...wait- why did I just think like that?

I'm technically just a teacher... or coach. This is just another basic thing to learn if you want someone. You've got to learn how to talk with the person if you wanna get to know them.

"Well... first of all, we've got to figure out what classes you're in and what classes Hiccup is in. If you guys have a few classes together, those times are most likely the only times you'll get to hang out with each other," I explained as we walked closer and closer to the tables. She tilted her head to the side, a bit dumbfounded.

"Did you already forget what I said? Hiccup is most likely gonna try to spend most of his time with Merida, so that means you've got to use the only time you have with him wisely. You need to leave a good impression on him so that as he hangs out with Merida, he thinks of you," I sighed.

Does she not get anything? Jeez...

Well... I guess I kind of understand. I mean, she's barely use to shaking hands, so what makes me think she'll know the basics of getting someone she likes?

"Y-you know... you're p-pretty good at this kind of stuff. You're like an expert at this..." Again, as quiet as ever, but I was able to hear what she said.

"Hey hey hey, don't think flattering me will make me give you extra tips..." I said jokingly.  I looked forward, only to see that we were almost at the tables. "Oh look! We're almost-"

She suddenly tugged on my sleeve.

I looked back at her. She was blushing as she looked right at me.

"I-I didn't mean it like that... I mean... I respect you now... I... I look up to you," she said loudly.

Looks up to me? What am I, the president? She thinks way too highly of me...

...but if it means those crystal blue eyes will keep staring at me like that, then I guess I'm okay with being the president for now...
