Chapter 17

{Elsa's P.O.V.}

The shirts here were quite... expensive.

I mean, a plain black T-shirt for more than forty dollars?

I sighed, flipping through countless racks that seemed to have nothing more than cardigans and sweaters.

It was then I backed away that I felt my back hit something... something round.

I turned around to see a young woman with hair an abnormal bright red. She wore a knit, pastel pink sweater with skinny jeans that didn't seem to look comfortable. The thing that caught my attention the most was her baby bump.

I don't know how long I stared, but after a while- she began to talk.

"We're naming her Melody." she suddenly said.

It was then I snapped back into reality.

"Ah, I-I'm so... sorry... I d'didn't mean to b-bump into you... I mean, when you're carrying... all that." I murmured quietly.

She giggled. "Oh no, it's fine... I'm actually here to get a gift for my husband!"

"R-really...? Is it your a-anniversary?"

"Hm? No, no, nothing like that! I just wanted to get something for him..."

"S-so... there's no special ocassion...?"

"Not at all!"

She looked so cheerful that I couldn't help but have the corners of my mouth creep up into a semi-smile.

"Oh- what about you?" she asked.

"M-me?"

"Yup!"

"Ah... well..." I thought hard about how to word my situation.

"I-I owe... this guy... s-something. He's not a boyfriend or anything... I j-just... yeah..."

"So a soon-to-be..."

"I'm s-sorry... I didn't hear y-you..."

"No, it's nothing! Anyways, I should probably keep looking... maybe in one part of the store there is a sale! Well, it was nice chatting with you, buh-bye!"

Without even a single goodbye leaving my lips, she left just like that.

It was then I realized I hadn't gotten her name.

Dissapointed yet refreshed by our small talk, I had this new kind of inspiration burning inside me.

I don't know what happened, but I was soon able to find suitable and cheap shirts for Jack.

I the end, I chose only three shirts out of the seven that I thought were alright.

I felt proud of myself, but at the same time doubtful since I know I don't have the best fashion sense.

The first shirt was a sky blue with a thin white line across the chest area and gray paint splatters that I thought would give Jack a nicer and more "gentler" looking appearance. The second shirt was simple with different shades of blue stripes and a small pocket. The last one wasn't a shirt- but a deep blue flannel with an extremely detailed skull design at the back and a few small studs. The flannel was a little more expensive than the others, but I thought that if it suited him- it would be worth buying.

I didn't hesitate to call for him- despite the fact that I should've just tried to look for him instead.

"Ah- Jack??? Jaaack??? I found something!!!" I yelled- trying to be as quiet as possible at the same time.

I looked around- trying to find him when two hands slipped over my eyes.

"J-Jack...?" I guessed. The hands seemed to be the same size, but I felt no familiarity with these pair.

When the hands uncovered my eyes, I didn't hesitate to turn around.

From the crooked glasses to the semi-shaggy hair, I could tell who it was instantly.

Hiccup.

But... why?

"Uh... I'm sorry, I shouldn't have done that... but I didn't stalk you or anything if that's what you're thinking. I was actually on my way to get some things- but that doesn't matter right now... I was wondering if we could talk. I mean, since we're both here... is that alright...?" He said.

I didn't answer.

I didn't want to.

After a while of not answering, he reached to grab my hand...

...but it was then I was pulled back.

I turned my head, only to see Jack which made me feel surprisingly relieved.

"Whoa there, buddy- she didn't even answer yet." He said jokingly, but for some reason- I felt a sense of threat in his voice.

I looked back at Hiccup who didn't say anything but seemed to respond with his eyes- almost glaring at Jack.

What exactly is going on here...?

Wattpad update:

I've got a new story up! :3

Though I think it'll probably be those stories I'll just work on in my free time... I don't think I'll treat it as seriously as this one, so...

But for now, could you guys perhaps give it some support and love by putting a few votes on the first two chapters? Although I'm not as serious about it, I feel like those votes or even comments will help me write more chapters, maybe?

Here is the summary:

"Seventeen year-old Elora Huntley.

Monotone, quiet, unsociable, boring... every trait any normal person has- she doesn't have.

She never smiles. She never laughs. She never shows any type of expression.

Even Elora herself believes the chances of her ever having a boyfriend is below zero...

But this all changes when one boy winks at her in the middle of art class."

What do you think?

If you have the chance, please do try to check it out! :D

Also, I think I should get some extra brownie points since I drew the cover! =~=

My instagram art account is actually @thatweirdomj, so you can also check that out, too, if you want!
