Chapter 12: Mortal

"Look at me!" Brandon said punching the man in the face, but he kept looking away.
"Brandon! I know you can punch people in the face, but you're supposed to read their mind!" I shouted at him on the way back to Charles place.
"They are going outside the city which means they should be around here," he said opening the door. "There!" He pointed at the ground, and I went to go check. Avyanna was sitting there waving at us, and she looked like she was waiting.
"Let's go!" he said getting a parachute.
"Brandon! What are you doing?" I asked.
"Getting something to complete the mission," he said jumping off. I saw Avyanna, and she got up. I couldn't resist it, so I did the same thing. We weren't that high to see the whole city, so we could see her quite easily. I landed a little rough, but I didn't get hurt. I jogged where Brandon was, and he was staring at her. He would just grabbed her by the arm and yank her, but it wasn't nothing like it.
"Brandon, is there something wrong?" I asked.
"They tricked me. They tricked me," he said upset, and then he looked to the sky. He stomped on the ground with anger, so I looked up to see nothing but the sky. The jet wasn't there anymore, so I looked back at Avyanna. She wasn't there either.
"Brandon, if you're messing with my mind, it's not funny. You just got us lost," I explained. Suddenly, we heard crumbling rock behind us, so we turned around. Avyanna came out of the ground, and she kicked me right in the jaw. Brandon try and punch her, but she blocked it with her forearm and hit him in the stomach. I went back to grab a hold of her, but she pushed be back with her hands and wind. Brandon did the same thing, but she round house kicked him. I went again with an approach, and she kicked me in the chest with a lot of power. I slid on the dirt and pebbles, and Brandon got up again hold his jaw on his hands.
"Give Ruben back," she growled.
"We don't have him," Brandon mumbled with his hurt jaw, and she went to shove him to the ground. I teleported to her, and she punched me in the face. I clearly over reacted and landed like if I was a girl getting punched.
"You expect us to give him back to you in these conditions?" I asked, but then she loosened up a bit.
"I forgot to tell you that I will turn myself in just to get him back. If you want to finish your mision," she offered, but I felt like there was something fishy.
"Why?" I asked, and she finally turned to me.
"He needs to return to his family, and I guess you need something to deal with right now. Do you want me or not?" I asked. The next thing, something hits the ground as if it was a airplane. "Ruben!" She started sprinting as fast as she could, but I teleport me and Brandon over there. I looked back at her, and she started rock riding. She was on a rock, and she was riding on it as if it was surfing. She brought up two rocks, and threw them at us. Brandon didn't notice, so I pulled him down. She wrapped the rock around our feet, and pulled us back.
"Avyanna!" I shouted at her as she dropped us around 15 yards away from the jet.
"She is going to get Ruben and leave," Brandon warned, so I teleport to her. I hugged her from behind, but it wasn't a pleasant hug. It was more like I can't let you do this kind of hug. She slipped out, and kissed me one more time. Lips moved in sync, and she wrapped her arms around my neck. I had my hands on her waist, and that kiss drugged me. She slipped through my finger, and I watched her get inside the jet. I was just watching her in love with the kiss mesmorising it for a long time that she was already leaving with him. I was knocked out of my love strucked situation, and teleported to her.
"Avyanna, please!" I begged.
"I'm going to drop him off at our place, and then come back. You're not helping just by stopping me," she answered. I wrapped my arms around her, and took her where she wanted. "Let me heal him first and then we'll go."
"Avyanna, don't go please!" a lady begged.
"Aunt, I'll do it for you guys. I can't have you guys in danger," she answered as she started healing the guy. Damn. Brandon got good training for a mind reader since the dude looked pretty mested up. Once she was done, she gave everyone the last hug, and we went off. Brandon was against the jet, and it was back to the normal color.
"How come she is back?" Brandon asked with a suprised look on his face.
"Because I wouldn't break a deal with you guys," she said getting inside and taking a seat.
"Can you explain how that man messed with all our minds?" Logan asked her while getting all in her face.
"He is a mutant, can you tell what his power is?" she asked, but they were still surrounded. I walked to them, and I broke up the circle.
"He can turn invisible. He can share the power with the connection between him and the object. Is that hard to solve?" I asked and they all glared at me.
