Carl's POV
"Carl."
"Carl, wake up."
"Caaaaaarl."
"Carl!"
I finally fully woke up when I heard Ethan shout my name as he shook my shoulder.
"What time is it?" I asked after I yawned.
"Um... I don't know... I haven't known the time since my phone died after this started. It's some time in the morning." He answered.
I sighed and sat up. After a few minutes of just sitting there I got out of bed and opened the dresser looking for clean clothes. I found a pair of jeans that fit as well as a light gray shirt.
"I'm gonna go take a shower, who knows if the water will work for very long." I said as I walked out of the room and into the bathroom.
I looked at myself in the mirror and saw how ragged my bandage was getting.
"I really need to change that." I whispered to myself as I started unwrapping it from my head. I set it down on the counter and looked through the cabinets for a new one. I found some sterilized cloths and set them on the counter as well.
I turned the shower on and got in, letting the cold water clean me off. After a while I got out and dried myself off, then put the clean clothes on. I turned the water off and tried to put the new bandage together over my eye, but I couldn't get it to stay.
Damn it. I'm gonna need someone to help me.
I walked out of the bathroom, and covered the injury with my hair.
I hate showing it off... This will have to do for now.
I walked into the bedroom and saw that Ethan was still in there.
"Enjoy your shower? You were in there forever." He said when I walked in.
"I haven't had a shower for like two weeks, I know that's nothing compared to most people now, I was lucky that Alexandria had showers, but it definitely spoiled me." I said.
"Well, it's my turn now, Carol was up here a few minutes ago, she said she had breakfast for us whenever we're ready for it." He responded as he got off the bed.
"Hey... uh, can you help me get this new bandage over my eye?" I asked.
"Yeah, sure." He said as he walked over and took the bandage from me.
"Don't freak out when you see it... please." I said quietly as I got ready to push my hair out of the way.
"I won't. I promise." He responded.
I pushed my hair away from my eye, and he put the bandage over it, then started to wrap it around my head, tight enough that it wouldn't come loose, but not so tight that it would hurt. After he finished he stepped away and gave me a small smile.
And there goes that weird feeling in my stomach again. What is that? Why is it happening?
"Thanks." I said.
